They entered our country illegally and are now staying here legally awaiting their asylum hearing. Not sure why the US doesn't hire a thousand immigration judges and admins to work at various stations along the border to hear and process the massive backlog of asylum cases. Seems like a nice "American Jobs" bump to me and gets these people's legal status figured out in a manner of months instead of years.

The US needs to figure out a better way to determine initial asylum eligibility and status. Every presidential administration has failed to create a better method for this. We're a country that people want to move to; this should be recognized as a need and invested in.

If there’s no room in Fl, Tx, Az for the immigrants then where should they be sent? Don’t think the Dems should be complaining.

There's room. The state governments don't want them.

Technically, seeking asylum by presenting oneself at the border is one of the legal ways to enter the US.

There’s one simple way to solve the unauthorized employment problem. The law allows for prosecution of the employers who hire those who don’t have proper authorization for employment. For every “illegal immigrant” busted at a raid there is a corresponding employer who has equal culpability. Mete out the same punishment (jail time) and the problem will disappear.

The issue is not that we can’t solve it, it’s that there’s powerful interest in NOT solving it. Where’s the “Enforce the existing law” cry from the right wingers?

Speaking of powerful interests in not solving it, there’s stories of “illegal immigrants” being hauled across the country by farms and manual labor and the other such common “illegal immigrant” employers, and employers subjecting them to shit working conditions for shit wages, and if they act up the employers threaten/use the leverage of deportation, but I admit it’s just stories, I haven’t done my own research, like dolomite has with ivermectin.

They are too busy getting reasonably priced roofing and eating reasonably priced produce thanks to the work of illegal immigrants.

Didn't Alabama crack down really hard on migrant workers at one point? As I recall, it didn't work out very well.
