But am I right to assume it's just kicking that money down the road which we'll have to deal with eventually ?

Yes, but you also hope that the salary cap increases with the new upcoming TV deals.

New TV deals are going to dwarf the current ones. That was apparent after the Dak deal.

Bucs are basically back.
Godwin, Lavonte David and now Shaquil Barrett.
They'll figure out something with Gronk.

If they loose Fournette and Antonio Brown, it's not a significant blow to their team.

Chiefs just signed Pro Bowl OG Joe Thuney to a 5 year $80 deal. That works.

That's a LOT of money for a guard.
Who are our tackles?
Niang? And?

He played LT in college. You don't pay this sort of money for a guard.

He will be LT, Niang RT.

I hope so - because you could have Kyle Long, LDT and Allegretti and be fine at guard.
And if he's playing tackle, you sure hope he can transition and play as well at that spot as he did at guard where he got his pro bowl.

Actually. Just looking around a bit. I think Thuney is brought in to be a guard.

They'll likely draft a LT in the draft and maybe even a C in 3rd round or so.

I wonder if Chiefs can still manage to sign another OL - i.e. Riley Reiff - but still look for tackles and centers in the draft.

Would be nervous to put all your chips in a rookie LT, even if he were a 1st rounder.

Don't think they'll put all chips in on a rookie LT. Put Thuney next to him, and he helps that rookie tremendously if that is the route that they take.

That’s still relying on a rookie at LT, no matter who starts next to him.

Veach knows how to work that cap.

Hope they get Trent Williams too. Both those guys on the same side? Nassstttyyy

Really banking on that cap to balloon.
You need money to sign your rookies.
The Chiefs may get more when they extend Honey Badger.
They also need to think about corner with either Ward or Breeland.

I don’t think they could manage Trent Williams in the future. Maybe do something like they are doing where it’s backloaded but then be fucked in years 2-4.

I’d sign Ward and get a lower priced LT and draft a LT and C.

Taco Charlton back to KC on 1-year deal.

He's a really good situational pass rusher. Good move for KC.

Still have to get an edge in the draft.

Well you can't say the Pats aren't trying in free agency . . .

I'm genuinely confused by what they're doing. Belichick has more Super Bowl rings than I've owned cars, but I'm not sure how you could watch them last season and conclude that things would have been fine if Cam just had some weapons.

I could see how talented, experienced guys like Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry could work really well with Brady, especially in the playoffs.

Maybe missing something out of that equation, though.
