How awesome is Long that he puts the HC he freaking hired on administrative leave. What a clown show.
I’m getting bad Al Bohl vibes from Long and that ain’t good.

Got into some arguments with Alumni--but again, this looks like KU didn't do a lot questioning of folks who knew him at LSU. I wonder if KU could prove LSU misled them? Probably not.

Considering the resources available that smaller schools don't have, being in a Power 5 conference, and coming off several successful seasons, is this the most embarrassing run by a school in NCAA history? I know K-State was awful for years, longer than the 12 year span we are in, but basically nothing at all has gone right in over a decade.

And know Les’s lawyer saying KU had ‘significant information’ about LSU report ahead of release.
What. A. Clown. Show.

This is what makes it hard to stomach. It's not like Gill followed Terry Allen and we went from bad to worse. The Orange bowl isn't ancient history. The distance we fell makes it so much more painful.

Again, if it’s coworkers, and with some evidence, than yea, shoulda been fired at LSU.
Times change. People change with the times. I’m not firing a guy who made a female employee uncomfortable ten years ago and said he hires attractive blondes. I’m not firing a girl who made a male employee uncomfortable ten years ago and said she hires attractive brunettes.
You’re really covering yourself in glory on this issue.
Look, I think any reasonable person would agree that there’s a line somewhere about what conduct ten years ago is fireable now, and what isn’t.
For me, a middle-age-to-old dude creeping on coeds who ultimately report to him is very very very much on the fireable side of the line.

The not so funny thing is Ginsberg (Miles' attorney) is going to expose the Program / Athletic Department / (and University?) for being the incompetent shit show that it is. He doesn't fuck around.

Well, I do think the fact that this isn't a new allegation, complicates things. This was an old investigation.
Do we want to start doing this where, you received a punishment 10 years ago that seemed ok at the time, then the culture changes and now we want to reassess. I mean, it's not like he got away with it in the traditional sense and then got caught now.
But this is why what ku knew at the time of the hiring is so important. Did they know and not care until it was made public, or did they truly not know? Neither answer is a good look.

Once again KU fumbles the PR ball. Another ‘he said, she said’ case that makes KU look like a complete shit show. Doug Girod, as the acting head of the entire University had better step on Monday and put an end to this foolishness before it gets even more out of hand.
The Long experiment needs to end ASAP!

Long and Miles both have to go.

Long has to go now. And if Miles has had any sniff of this while at KU, he has to go too.

Apparently we do, yes.

I think it's completely backwards to look at this from a "what's fair to Les Miles" point of view; should he be "punished" for past conduct, etc. Fair or unfair, accepting millions to be in the public eye (the millions coming from public universities, no less) means you don't really get to cry "cancel culture" over this.
I care about what's in KU's best interests. To me, that means separating from a guy who was creepy enough to be told not to be alone with coeds, and stupid/broken enough to still do it! But I suppose everyone's mileage may vary on this point.

So what happens today in the next episode of ‘As the KU Athletic Department Turns’....
What happens if Les comes out and says, I have made mistakes in my past that I am not proud of. I am embarrassed by my past conduct. I have worked on correcting those wrongs and they have not happened since. Something along those lines.
Does that keep him his job here?

Probably depends on the state law around “cause” terminations in whatever state’s law would govern the interpretation of the contract.

I wonder who at KU will have the balls to say why KU foolishly hired a guy with a shitty past history - that no other decent program in the country wanted.
I feel if the decision is that Les needs to go - then Long sure better be shown the door too.

imo, if Les comes out contrite and apologetic KU could keep him
Long and whoever else was supposed to do the vetting are on much thinner ice
i still wonder if LSU was as forthright as they should/could have been. and, i wonder what Les’ attorney knows as far as the information KU was privy to
someone isn’t being honest here, that’s for sure

I don't disagree, but gosh is this a bad time (vis a vis basketball) to have to replace an AD.

The problem is this: he is a predator with young women students the school needs to protect. Gone IMHO. Long plausible deniability? Maybe. But package deal.
