No not at all.

That’s why we’re starting DMac and Cam for sure.

Givony and Schmitz just said it's the deepest draft they can remember.

Woj did not disagree and said it will impact draft strategy.

Come on back Och.

Martin
Yesufu
Ochai
Wilson
McCormack

That's the best offensive lineup in the country next year, easily. I mean, Wilson is probably the worst of those five on offense, which is crazy.
I’m curious whether moving Och to the 3 would afford some Selden-like bump in production.

I’m also curious whether there’s really that much difference between a 2 and 3 any more
in order for Och to have Selden-like production, he’ll need to show Selden-like aggressiveness

Och, to me, has always come off as being too nice. i don’t think he has it in him to go to the rim and wreck like Selden did

Has there ever been a difference in Self's offenses?
I always looked at Self's offenses as the 1 and 2 being more interchangeable than the 2 and 3.

It kinda depends on personnel, right?

1 and 2 are interchangeable if you’ve gots guy like Devonte or Mario at the 2.

But what if it’s a guy like Och, or BMac?

But 2/3, how much different were Och and Christian’s roles? Or Och and Isaiah before that?

Yeah.

Selden had like 20 pounds on Och, and also came in a more developed handler

Somebody needs to piss in Och’s Apple Jacks every morning for the next year…

Sucks that Och couldn't go through this whole thing last year, including struggling in the scrimmages. Would have been better for him and program.

I think the better Self teams that has been the case, the worse teams have been the other way around.
Dotson and Garrett shared pg duties. So did Graham and Mason, Graham and Newman, Taylor and Johnson, Collins and Taylor, and Chalmers and Robinson.

Then you have teams where the 2 and 3 aren't great handlers, like Braun and Agbaji, Lee and Langford, oh crap, brain just got lazy, don't feel like recalling anymore.

Generalization is that Self teams are better with two really quality ball-handlers on the court together. Of course there are exceptions.

It's not the weight. Scrawny-ass Marcus Garrett was a lot more willing and able to mix it up last year than Ochai.

I don't think the brain got lazy, just that's all there was for that category, lol. Suppose you could probably add Selden/Wiggins to the list.

I'd call Dotson an exception to the two ball handler rule. Understand that MG could get the ball off the weave for a downhill angle, but after this season, I wouldn't let him handle my balls.

Seemed worse at handling and passing last year. Second half of the previous season Garrett was the primary handler in half court and led the team (and league?) in assists while playing with Dotson.

Well yeah, me neither, but mostly cuz I’m straight.

Garrett had a 3.7:1.9 a:to last year as the lead guard. Not great, but not godawful either.

I still wonder how he’d look as pg if he was surrounded by guys who weren’t afraid to shoot.

I also think he was better taking a 3/4 man off the dribble pre-‘21, than he was matched up against the other team’s primary guard.

No homo.

It might be the whole running the offense thing that gets in the way for MG. Lots going on.

Tangentially, Devonte' was probably the best alley-oop passer we've ever had here (w/ a not do A. Miles), and then we get Dotson and Garrett whom wouldn't even be able to get LeBron an oop.

It's deep but feels very weak to me. Time will tell.

Cade looks a lot better than Simmons, that's for sure.

Or maybe he woulda looked better if there was offense to be ran?

It was so much Marcus trying to force feed a double teamed Dave while Och and Braun stood around.

Just offense, you know.

Always great when your #1 overall pick is good for 5 PPG in the playoffs in today's NBA.
