I think the bigger problem is that there is a very real chance he comes out of this unscathed.

IMO, players should get a longer leash on this type of stuff, but the reality is that coaches tend to get the longest leashes.

Maybe he gets fired from Texas, but look no further than Bobby Petrino being on the verge of a $5 million contract to be a coach at a premier football school. That school's located in Texas.

Agree. At least relatively unscathed.

I'd be shocked if he got fired (unless he somehow ends up in jail over this, which seems super unlikely).

Will say again, though, it's very early. There are a million different ways this could still go.

Only thing I do know is that his contract is absolute shit. The language I read states he can be fired for cause if he is merely "charged" with a felony. Should have never signed that.

Guessing he never intended to be "merely" charged with a felony

Few are. But using "charged" instead of "convicted" or "plead guilty" moves you into shit happens territory. Or even false reporting territory.

Heck, it's even worse than that as there is a catchall for "any crime involving theft, dishonesty, or moral turpitude" (emphasis added). He should fire his lawyer.

Chokers!

Man. The posters will write themselves just like when Stipanovich shot himself in the domestic dispute with himself.

Not busy enough to say no to renegotiate his contract with UT, which they'll give him a raise to around $10m a year after this incident.

Some real info released. The daughter's boyfriend theory is gone.

On December 12, 2022, at approximately 12:15 a.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) received a 9-1-1 call for a disturbance in the 1900 block of Vista Lane. The caller reported the disturbance was no longer ongoing and one of the individuals had left the house. APD officers responded and located a woman who stated she had been assaulted and strangled by Christopher Michael Beard.

Beard was booked into Travis County Jail. He is charged with Assault by Strangulation/Suffocation - Family Violence, a third degree felony.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. You may submit your tip anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.

Some chicks are into that.

I never liked Beard, my dislike was confirmed when he got Td up for sitting on the court. This takes him from douchebag to genuine bag of shit.

Who the fuck chokes a woman...I mean besides big time college sports coaches.

Opposing student sections are going to have a field day with these images, given he remains a head coach

Mizzou's football coach is already holding a blowup of the image at a basketball game.

Mizzou might be first in line to hire him if Texas gives him the axe.
