The nets have a plan. The goal was to get rid of kyrie, and try to get some picks and usable players back in the deal. they did it. They got finney Smith and Dinwiddie, both serviceable rotation players on a good team. And they got a 1st round pick and 2 seconds.

Now they plan to use those picks and the extra 1st rounder they have from Philadelphia to try to build trades for some other good players that fit with Durant.
I am fine with it from the Nets side.

No clue what Dallas is thinking.

The Nets HAD a plan. Their plan was to win a championship with KD, Harden, and Kyrie.
Sure there were some unforeseen circumstances but their plan was a big FAIL.

Not sure if there is any truth to this but supposedly Tsai (Nets owner) wasn't happy Kyrie wouldn't commit to signing a contract extension so he purposely screwed him by not trading him to the Lakers - where Kyrie allegedly wanted to be traded.
If it is true - Gee, ya think this will help him with signing FA in the future?

Thats being reported. Made a point of not sending him to LA

Best case scenario if those 2 get on the same page, that's really tough to guard. More likely... its a mess

It's a less than half a season experiment and probably helps make the Mavs a better team right now.
Problem is it very well may (or will?) make them a worse team in the future.

February/early March: Mavs win some big games. Luka and Kyrie look good.
Late March/early April: Luka and Kyrie get in fight on the sidelines. Tensions continue.
Late April/early May: Mavs flame out of playoffs.

Makes me wonder if the Mavs are aware Luka may request a trade soon. Kyrie is still a very good player even with the baggage.

Jalen Brunson is averaging 23 pts and 6 assists on 47% shooting and 40% from 3. Mavs r dumb.

I'd say he's a top 30-35 guy.
He is the 48th highest paid player on average.

That's what he's averaging this season on a different team.
26 million is a lot of money and they probably felt Dinwiddle was just as good for less money. I'm not so sure I agree that was dumb. Maybe.

It’s a bargain compared to what they just paid Kyrie.

Only way it doesn’t look terrible for Mavs is if Jalen’s father and the rest of Jalen’s camp mandated a move to NYC.

If it was about fit, i get it. Brunson is a PG and so is Luka.

Which makes the kyrie thing make even less sense. Kyrie is ball dominant. So is Luka, but he is a lot better.

Kyrie is an free agent after this season.

That's an asset for Dallas.

Now they have neither but do have a more expensive player who happens to be the Alex Jones of the NBA.

But part of GM’ing is knowing what your own players are capable of. They don’t get a pass because Jalen’s stats are on a different team. Haven’t ever heard that one before.

By asset you mean they’re going to be left with nothing including now not having their draft picks, sure!

Brunson wasn't going to be the difference between them being a contender or not.
