The Leawood memorial was completed yesterday. I think he would have liked it. He will have a view of the attendees and the TV from this spot.

Wut we was doin' yesterday before the Crimson crew started showing up. This was the opening of Marguerite Humeau's "Orizons" installation in Hooper near the client watchtower. These things are spread out over 80 acres of desert in the middle of nowhere. The objects with the rope netting are giant hammocks, more comfortable than they appear. The people at the gate told us that in the future it would be open from sunrise to sunset and we would have to get on line and register for our next visit. Bill and I nodded as though we agreed.

On the shuttle bus back to the Frontier we discussed drug fueled late night runs out there to see the dark sky. It will be a small stealth crew, the installation is 5 miles from the nearest residence so no one will see us go out. And we know the land owner's so that will help in the very tiny chance that the County Sheriff might drive out there.

Crazy fricking thing....
Last night/this morning I had a dream I was attending the fest. Showed up unexpected. Introduced myself as Gutter. No one was "happy" I was there but I did receive a couple of grins.
There were two identical Japhys. Or were they Ferals? Either way, WTF was that all about?
In the dream I couldn't identify anyone else, even though I know what a few of the actual attendees look like.
Dream progressed and I was sitting on the ground outside the Alluvium Studio at 342 S. Worth Street by myself when I woke up.

I'm still awaiting pics of the actual Fest happening this week but would somewhat understand if there is a sort of pact in which the attendees have agreed NOT to share photos - at this time.
I hope those attending are having a great time!

Ok. I will provide a 50,000’ flyover of the day yesterday:

Mr and Mrs Overlander met Feral for coffee at the Frontier Drive Inn (amazing shared common kitchen).

Then, the 3 of us ran south to the Sun Flour Cafe. Great breakfast.

Japhy, Ousdahl, Mr/Mrs Defix had coffee and Chocoflan at the studio.

We all gathered at lunch for drinks, local native food, and KU hoops KU vs Slavers ‘12. Dr Pepper and her entourage dropped in right about this time. DrP hung out at the studio, while her flock ran over to Great Sand Dunes.

A few folks broke off and did their own thing for a few hours, then gathered back at the Frontier Drive in to view the Super Moon. Amazing.

Then, at 8 pm, time to get serious about drinking and KU-Memphis 08. A few of Japhys crew showed up late afternoon for hoops, but were oddly hesitant to dive into the Pool-Manhattan. The veterans were not hesitant at all!

We shut things down for the night around 10…sleep came easy.

The Valley is such a unique and eccentric place. The perfect setting for this group.

So many laughs…such good people..and great stories.

I would tell you all who we mostly agreed we wished could have made it. That list would surprise some of you.

I will say this, this has over the past several years been a gathering of REALLY good people, and I happy that I was able to meet many more from the board.
