I think LL is a good head coach. I think he has us in a good spot. But I think some were expecting immediate Georgia or Bama like consistency because we are used to it with the basketball team.
Who thought that?
I don't think it's unreasonable to have expected this team to contend for the B12 with all they returned but just this particular season.

I certainly got sucked into thinking that we were going to be good every single year because LL is a good coach and the NIL support is there.

Those expectations to contend for the big 12 weren't unreasonable at all.

In tandem with Grimes failing, sometimes I go over to look at Penn State, like looking at an ex's facebook page with their new boyfriend.

Drew Allar is completing 71% of his passes so far this season.
Daniels completed 74% in the games he played last season and 67% in the previous seasons combined.
Daniels this season is completing 54% of his passes with a cast of returning seniors to throw to.

Grimes.

Midseason MVP: QB Drew Allar. Wherever you set the bar for improvement in 2024, Allar is clearing it. He produced a 60% completion rate and averaged 11.3 yards per completion and 6.4 yards per dropback last season; he's at 71%, 15.1 and 9.6, respectively, this fall. He's fifth in Total QBR, ahead of some of the current Heisman betting favorites, and he has carved out an excellent partnership with both offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki and tight end Tyler Warren (23 catches, 289 yards, 3 TDs).

Mason Fairchild was a beast for us at TE last year. Is he still on the saints or did he get waived?

We are currently 90th in scoring defense allowing 30.2 PPG.
We were 69th last season allowing 27.3 PPG.

We have yet to play a top 40 offense.
ISU is coming up. So is ksu.
OK, but I am good with math. We are around 21 PPG this year so .......

We have not gotten worse at tackling. You need to go back and look. Our secondary is 4 of our top six tacklers!?!?
Our defensive line and linebackers cannot wrap people up and have bad entry angles.
( hey-o )
Man we were running Potter out there just a short time ago. Bad angles lol

Lance was SUPPOSEDLY offered the Washington job. Lance was SUPPOSEDLY strongly considered for the Michigan State job.
I heard/read there was a time when he was being considered for the Nebraska and Wisconsin jobs.
I know there were about 7 million (INSANE to me) reasons why he was happy to have stayed at KU and be coaching KU this season but today, if he is a sane man, he can't be very happy he's coaching at KU and not at Washington, or MSU, or Nebraska, or Wisconsin, or......
I have to assume when he signed his extension he felt he could continue to recruit and have someone pay the same quality players he has on his current roster but.... They are 1-5 right now. Brutal.
Many of us seem to agree he's not going to have the same talent next season. It's going to be very hard to do better with less quality. Another brutal season won't help him snap out of the negative trend and bring in high quality players - who don't want to play for a sub par program.
Would he dare leave after this season and take a pay cut to coach at a "lesser" program? No chance. Right?
So who does he bring in to help him? Grimes and Borland have helped ruin the program and the positive trajectory it has been on. Master of the obvious (me) says, he has to bring in some high quality recruiters and not just offensive and defensive gurus. Stay tuned.....

On a semi related note.
I see that the the Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks lost to the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders but beat the John Carroll Blue Streaks, Roosevelt Lakers, and Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titans, this season.
Looks like UWW was 11-2 last season. ESPN shows one record but sometimes the season results differ from what they state - but it looks like they were around.... 8-3 in 2022. 13-1 in 2021. 13-2 in 2019. 13-1 in 2018. 7-3 in 2017. 12-1 in 2016. 12-2 in 2015.
Why am I sharing that? Good question! I don't know. I was looking for something to do for a couple of minutes so I looked it up.

Can't be sure had he gone to those programs he'd be succeeding as well as they currently are.

And this ( current loosing record ) is more his fault than KU's.
This is now his team with his roster so leaving would be admitting you failed the program.

I hate the NIL era but the silver lining about football is that you have a much much better chance at having a quality team because there are so many variables and unheralded guys can succeed in a certain system and if coached well.

It's different to me than basketball where one or two particular players can make an instant difference.

So implying Lance doesn't have the NIL budget to recruit/retain players is a poor excuse to me ( imo ). Just look at the land-grant school to KU's West.

meh. Probably going to. Houston is bad (lol, right?).

Game on ESPN+. So, games on locally, if your team is good enough. If not, time to pay up for a subscription (lol, right?). I'll be using my bookmarked sites, as always to watch the sportsball for free, if I decide to tune in, which is less than 50/50.

Apparently tickets for the “home” game v ISU are 2-3 times more expensive than they were for Houston.

Basically this is just begging for more Iowa State fans to show.

Gross.

You probably not aware but ISU is 7-0 and is tied with BYU for first place in the Big 12, KSU and Colorado are one game behind. These are our next four opponents.

But to make things worse is Arrowhead with 80 percent Iowa State fans.
