Also, Dajuan looked really good last night offensively. 11-17 and thats with 2 or 3 missed layups.
maybe there's just something about Cal that turns Dajuan into Ray Allen

nm guess I forgot about that time Cal boat raced our natty team at home and Dajuan went 0-fer from deep.

Is anyone else getting sick of the name "Boogie Fland" yet? Haven't even played a full game yet and it already has been said about 200 times.
Because he's absolutely torching us. I miss having an explosive guard. Love dajuan but I won't be that sad when his era is over. Really hoping we land that top rated pg

I'm getting sick of him making DH look like a freshman.
I don't mean to start yet another rip-on-Dajuan sesh, but...is his/can his defense be overrated?
I realize he's earned multiple all-defensive sorts of accolades.
But his D comes more just kinda in the mix of things, picking a pocket or disrupting a passing lane here or there.
He's not a "lock down the other team's best guard" kinda guy. I just dunno if he has the athleticism to do that. Maybe not the strength to do that either...cuz yea he still looks like a true freshman who needs to grow another 15 pounds of muscle, even as a 43 year old grad student.
Remember, like, Marcus Garrett, when he'd get 1-on-1 against an opponent in the backcourt and you could pretty much expect him to disrupt the fuck out of whatever the opponent was trying to do, if not force a proper TO? And yes, I realize Marcus was a more effective defender when he could focus on that, rather than also having to run the entire offense too.
but yea, still nice to see Juan have a good offensive game. Will be thrilled if he drops 20+ again in games that actually count - a mark he has met exactly once in 140 games, and coincidentally against Cal...ok I realize I'm sounding backhanded again.

JFC.
You can't sit and bitch about his offense endlessly and then come "wonder" if his defense is overrated the day after he plays an awesome offensive game and expect to be taken seriously.
It seems you're desperate for attention this morning. The Ray Allen comment didn't get a reaction, so you tried the boat race comment, and now we are questioning whether he's overrated defensively.
You've really jumped back into posting with both feet it seems. Slow Saturday?

No, I don't really remember that.
Marcus Garrett was a more impactful defender when he played a small ball 4.

Career Steals (so far):
Marcus Garrett 181
Dajuan Harris 215
When almost nothing you say is supported by substance or stats, and is simply based on your memory and absolutely piss poor fucking understanding of the game of basketball, it becomes tiresome in a hurry.
Post less. You're starting to ruin this board in an attempt to resist posting on the politics board. You simply don't seem to understand much about basketball.
Does the politics board want to make a trade? We'll give you Ousdahl and we will take Randy.

Can I be blunt?
I don't think it hurts you that I don't think of you at all. Rather, I think it hurts you that I don't want to play, that I don't want to feed your obsession or provide the dopamine rush you get from the surge of self-righteousness at political confrontation. I understand, at this particularly fraught moment, that you desperately crave an enemy.
But it ain't me.

Kansas crimson is a basketball board. The politics board somehow gets 10x the action the main basketball board gets. So I'm not going to support telling someone posting on the basketball board to post less

Randy, you're at least among the posters who are actually permitted to criticize our starting PG without getting 3 straight JFC-toned posts from mister "it becomes tiresome in a hurry" himself.

No. Just stop.
I am just sick and tired of your shitting on DH. And your elementary (at best) understanding of basketball.
Your analysis isn't useful or insightful.
You brought up Marcus Garrett. I provided stats.
You couldn't take a victory lap this morning that we all know you'd have taken if he had a poor shooting game last night and we got beat, so you decided to call a 3x all big 12 defensive player overrated.
Can't wait to see what you've been "wondering" about next when it comes to DH.

Dajuans defense is in no way overrated. He's sound, and will wreak havoc on most college players. But, one thing he will never be is a guy with elite nba level quickness. There aren't a ton of guys like that in college, but every now and then he has to match up with some back courts like Arkansas, with a couple guys (Wagner Jr and Fland) who have next level quickness. And it's tough for dajuan to stay in front of them

None of our guys were capable of staying in front of them. We don't play straight man to man defense. We switch. Dajuan did better than anyone else on our team against 2 future NBA players. I'd love to see the advanced stats on who Wagner and Fland had the most success scoring on. Mayo seemed to struggle the most (especially speed wise) based on the eye test. Coit was too small to bother them. McDowell and DH have advantages in defensive experience on how to guard certain things, so it's not apples to apples I guess, but those 2 were the only ones that seemed to have any clue what they were doing defensively.

When you have to deal with ball handlers with elite quickness, good team defense helps. We basically have a brand new teams of transfers, we will improve.
Also our most athletic backcourt players are probably elmarko, moore, Griffen, and passmore.
3 were hurt and didn't play. 2 will be back soon. 1 is a freshman who's going to get better everyday

True.
I am not a huge fan of how we play defense at times. Especially how we switch dribble handoffs when we don't really have to. We also seem to get exploited a lot on how we guard certain ball screens.

Like for real “I am just sick and tired of you… Can't wait to see what you've been "wondering" about next” like what Taylor Swift song is that?

Dude, I’m at least good about limiting basketball discussion to…well, basketball discussion.
If other posters want to disagree about basketball discussion, okay fine.
But the issue here is much, much, MUCH less simply disagreeing as a matter of basketball discussion; and much more a small but vocal minority of posters who can’t help but turn basketball discussions, among so many others, into yet another opportunity to post their own personal grievances.
