Bobby Witt Jr really getting comfortable. He’s an absolute star.

Who we trading?
Benintendi was a great get for the Royals but it's time to cash that back in.

The Royals need to deal Santana. Mondesi for draft picks. But the biggest issue is between Matheny's ears.

Sad face.

This is just the result of several bad decisions by Dayton over the past few years.
Matheny was always just kind of warm body until some of these young guys were ready to contend. The team sucks, but in the end, it's just like 10 or so less wins than you would expect from this non-playoff team this season, and now we surely have forced JJ to fire sale.

Most were expecting 76 plus wins.
Not 59 which they are on pace for.

The wrong answer is to give up good players you can afford. Dayton screwed up the pen over many years and is responsible for Matheny' s genius. Let's start there.

Olivares was hitting a ton before the injury and coming back in his rehab assignment. Matheny had him bat 8th and get three ABs. KC won, but keeps holding itself hostage. Let's get a young manager/thinker. The Royals traded Soler last year for a box of rocks at his lowest ebb when they could have re-signed him affordably. Benny needs to stay. If anything, the Royals better solidify the pen and work on getting Matheny out of town. Witt 3B. Lopez SS. Merrifield 2B Pratto 1B Olivares, Taylor, Benny OF, C Melendez. DH Perez if he comes back, otherwise O'Hearn/Dozier.

8-7, A's lead but nobody out. Royals runners at first and second. Ball gets away from the catcher a few feet but on the 3B side. Isbel tries to take third but is thrown out. Merrifield, against all common sense, does not advance to second. Does not score on a later gapper by Witt. Royals don't score. Base running skill is just awful this year. Tying run at the plate in the 9th. Let's let Dozier hit against a flailing right hander. Swings at balls three and four. O'hearn, the best pinch hitter in baseball with the wind whipping to right field, does not play. Matheny is just soooo bad. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Bobby Witt Jr. leads the Royals in runs, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI and stolen bases and is only 2 back in hits. I would love to know the last rookie to lead a team in all those categories.

Maybe Fred Lynn? Griffey junior possibly. Bright spot on a bad fundamentals team.

Lynn is probably the closest, having fell just 1 HR short of the team lead but leading the '75 Red Sox in Runs, hits, doubles, triples, RBI and SB in what most consider to be one of the best rookie seasons of all time.
