"I would tend to think that nothing would promote all the virtues of college better than expanding access to it, particularly among demographics with very low college attendance."
Expanding access being converting college more into how to make money now by any means rather than, you know, actually going to classes.
Like saying we can get our kids to eat more vegetables if we coat them in hershey's syrup and sprinkles.

is there anything to support the idea that kids would stay in school longer, or go at all, if they were allowed to capitalize financially?
i know we’d like to think that would happen, but the grass is always greener...

"But the powers that be in college basketball should realize that a kid who seemed to have no academic issues choosing to play in relative media anonymity is not a good sign."
It's a great sign for getting the kids who shouldn't be playing college basketball to begin with out of college basketball...i.e. what we've been discussing.
Loose 50 top high school kids to different leagues every year? College basketball will continue to exist.

And that's 50 more scholarships available to people, only those 50 would not likely ever have the opportunity to play professionally, so they'd benefit the most from education.
If you really want to maximize kids (from any demographic) getting access to college education opportunities, you'd want as many professionally ready players to go professional as possible.

Advantage here?
Chai gets more PT - a dude who is a perfect example of Kansas basketball through and through.
I can and will root for Chai. RJ? Meh.

I don't disagree, but I'm curious why you say this.

Because he wants to be at Kansas and cares about it.
The RJ's or Grimes's of the world don't.

Would love to see a senior speech by Och, but God Save the Rules.

I’d guess if RJ could earn money off of his own likeness, he would be a Jayhawk.

Senior speeches are pretty much now left to the walk ons...
Ever since the 19 rule took affect, I have lost more and more interest in college hoops and even KU hoops. 10-15 years ago I never missed watching a KU game on the tube...the last 4-5 years, I've probably watched a total 10-15 games.

It's not the OAD "19" rule that you have an issue with.

Two seasons ago Vonte and Svi.
Three seasons ago Frank Mason and Landen Lucas.
Four seasons ago Perry Ellis and Jamari Traylor.

Just a reminder that if some NBA team had told Agbaji that they'd take a 1st round flyer on him that he would be gone.

I doubt it. Sounds like he preferred working full time on his game with no hassle of school as well.

“I met with him after the game and he came in with the other coaches and we sat down to talk,” said Agbaji. “He extended the offer to me. It was crazy to be in front of Bill Self and him offering me a scholarship, that’s a dream come true.”
“To the Kansas fans, I’m going to come in and be the hardest worker I can,” he said. “I will contribute as much as I can to make us a winning team.”

RJ to europe
I'm counting it right, I really just meant play professionally overseas
Wilson stays in Mich
Still unclear
Precious goes to Memphis
I was right
And De Sousa looses his appeal
Thank god I was wrong
I'm usually wrong though

As long as the name on the front of the jersey reads KANSAS. I don't care what the back says.
