I'm not sure college bowl games should really be classified as "postseason" in the same way playoffs that decide champions are considered postseason.
Agreed.
They're just fun "bragging rights" matchups on neutral sites.
Yedlin has no business being on the national team.
Dest is stuck with an anti-american manager. Really sucks for him, but he's not going to play under Xavi no matter what he does.
Really feels like Dortmund is deliberately holding Reyna out longer than needed so they can 'justifiably' not release him for the international window.
That said, the USMNT should be able to get a minimum of 5 and realistically 7 points out of El Salvador, @Canada, Honduras without those 3 players.
Ugh.....Player pool for the next three qualifiers is not great. Looks like we are trending back to the 2018 qualifying strategy of picking trash MLS players over European based players.
Gyasi Zardes, Jordan Morris, Sebastian Lletget, Christina Roldan, Kellyn Acosta, Paul Arriola, Sean Johnson, Brooks Lennon.......these guys have no business being on the roster.
Matt Turner, Miles Robinson, Walker Zimmerman, Gabriel Slonina and Jesus Ferreira are all fine.
For those of you who may not follow as closely this roster has more MLS based players (13) since before November 2020.
Last 7 major callups the MLS based player trend is 0-3-4-9-11-10-13
Europe based player trend is 23-23-29-17-16-15-15
Players of significance who didn't make the cut.
Daryl Dike
Josh Sargent
Jordan Pefok (formerly Siebatcheu)
Matthew Hoppe
Konrad de la Fuente
Giovanni Reyna (injured)
Gianluca Busio (maybe covid)
John Brooks
James Sands
Bryan Reynolds
Joe Scally
Cole Bassett
Tanner Tessmann
The schedule is fairly easy, so hopefully we get a little lucky with injuries and suspensions.
Hopefully this is a minor injury. Even though Dike didn't get called up for this round of games, you have to think he's one of the favorites to make the World Cup squad.
