I don't know how long it's been since you were there, but I went mountain biking in the Sedona, AZ area about 10 years ago and it seemed like a nice place. (Too touristy for me, but my threshold for that sort of thing is low.) Recently, I think it was on NPR, I heard a report about Sedona that said the tourists and traffic have pretty much ruined the place. If so, that's very sad.
i was there last summer
awful compared to what it was 15-20 years ago
Not remotely similar vibes, but this is how I'd describe Nashville, too.
I have a feeling that I would describe Nashville a whole hell of a lot like how the dubs (P and T) would describe college sports!
Apt.
I've been twice and agree with your statement.
I would also apply this to Williamsburg Brooklyn 2006 and Williamsburg now.

I will admit it’s a concern of mine as far as Kansas City “having its moment” or somesuch; I don’t really WANT Kansas City’s rough edges to be Disnified into a BWW Chad-aimed bar called The Rough Edges or somesuch.

Say 300 per person per night.
7 nights.
8400. On a boat.
Or on first search I get 2 rooms here:
https://www.melia.com/en/hotels/mexico/ ... del-carmen
And it costs me 7200 for 7 nights.
I have 1200 to work with ( which could get me a car rental and a fun family excursion of some type easy enough ).
And that's assuming we want 2 rooms instead of a larger one to share.
( dunno your plans on the cruise )
I know which I'd choose.
I didn't bother to open a private window/use Firefox for this search so ever since this post i've been getting a LOT of ads for this specific resort. You're welcome.

Interesting list.
50 years ago I might think this was a list of America's worst towns to visit (minus #4) . My how times change.

I don’t think there ever was a time SLO, CA would have been described as a “worst town”

I lived in Providence ( #2 ) for a year.
Portland Maine ( #4 ) is way better.
It is true Providence has a strong art scene.
It also has a decent amount of crime and corruption. And the restaurant/bar scene along with the sight seeing opportunities does not compare.

True! At least in my lifetime. I should have said minus #5 too. Especially being that I was there in the 70s ("50 years ago") and it was a beautiful town.

I was in SLO in the summer of '71, and it seemed awesome, to me. I remember thinking that I'd never seen so many beautiful girls in one place in such a short time, in my life.
Then, I went to Denmark.

That whole corridor north/east of New London along I-95 has an insane number of Dunkin’ Donuts. Boston has four on every intersection, so you never have to cross the street to get to one!

2 week vacation coming up.
A week around Acadia.
A week in the Outer Banks.
Unfortunately some gigs are popping up that are too tempting to turn down so pdub'll be working on vacay.

Nice.
Mrs. 99 wants a beach vacation. She just won't say when or where.
We've looked at DR, Turks and Cacaos, Yucatan etc. No idea where we're going.

Been to all 3 ( guessing you probably have too ).
Yucatan is easily best bang for your buck imo.
