beautiful succulent clean clear saltfree wet water.
If you enjoy having your testicles go up in to your throat, then swimming in Lake Superior is enjoyable.

I love Sebago Lake's beach here in Maine.
The water is clear. In July and August it's a perfect temperature.
I wouldn't be oblivious enough to put it anywhere near the best beaches in the world.

Can't tell you how many times I've had to inform Mrs. Fish that "San Diego in January" is NOT what she thinks.

Not my jam. But yes, if you want to stay in the continental US, South Flurrida is really your only reliable option in the winter.

No! Because it's not, July-September aside, actually a very warm place at all!

(Sorta like the inverse of how few people know that Minneapolis is further north than goddamn Toronto.)

I did not know that.
I did read that it's about the same distance to KC as the Canadian boarder from here.

Best beach I have ever been to was somewhere on the northwest side of Palawan (Philippines) 15 years ago. People, but no ships, preserved, natural, incredibly beautiful in every way (natural, weather, people, food), and cheap for an american once you get to the other side of the world. Don't go there and don't tell anyone about it.

mine was also in the Philippines…Casapsapan, Casiguran, east-central Luzon. it’s a protected cove with an amazing tide-pool section. saw my first bioluminescent algae in the tidal waves there

sad that i never made it to Palawan…always wanted to go

Mine was a hidden beach off Playa Tamarindo in PR - you had to hike a bit through the jungle to get there.
Dunno if I just hit a good day but the waters were crystal clear and calm, there was no one there and the sand was super soft and white.

not sure the beach had a name, but a spot somewhere in Tayrona Park in Colombia, SA.

I'm not a beach person. That beach was picture perfect. Hidden away, almost no one there, white sand, perfect temperature aqua blue waters. Waves but not huge. Just perfect.

Best beaches: Akumal, Mexico (Thirty years ago, I hear it's all commercialized now.)

Turks and Caicos.

Akumal is still great - at least it was a few years ago - but yea, more commercial.
Rocking bar there with a big ass tree in the center of it right off the sand.

Turks Grace Bay is quintessential white sands turquoise waters.
It's where Mahomes and Kelce have been known to frequent.
Not all that protected from wind though so you can get some waves that you simply can't go into the water.
