a co-worker's parents just got back from italy and europe late last week

she thought it a good idea to go visit them (while they are in self-quarantine) over the weekend and then come to work this morning like it was no big deal

i really don't understand the level of irresponsibility some people are portraying right now

I spoke with a friend of mine today who is a doctor at a flagship medical institution. I was a bit surprised when he expressed hopefulness that we really might be able to make a difference over the next couple weeks.

While I understand that might be asking a lot, I wasn't expecting to leave the conversation encouraged.

I'll say it again: he's waaaaaaay too much of a control freak to be likable in a general sense or in normal times. But in an emergency like this one, the control freak is in his element and is leading the pack. Thank God.

I shake my head when I think about all the people I know who went to see the Brothers (Allman) show at MSG a week ago - and all those I don't know.
Mother fuckers didn't have a care in the world other than to see the band.
Figure there has to be at least one person there who had/has the virus.
That should be one too many for 18,000 to be allowed to congregate together.

Yes.
NYC seems to be taking this very seriously. My nephew is an assistant basketball coach for St. John's, after they shut down the Big East Tourney they told the players and staff to get tested. My nephew has a heart condition and that is why he quit playing and joined the coaching staff at KU a few years back. When the doctor tested him, he asked if he had any place he could stay for a month outside of the city, you need to get out of NYC ASAP, you are at risk. That afternoon they packed their car and drove straight through to Wichita to stay with his wife's family. Regardless of how healthy and young you are, he is 25 and strong as a 6'-7" ox, underlying health condition can put you at higher risk.

Been off work the past couple days but back in the office today.

Finally getting more cancellations than new bookings. But the major operating factor for all too many seems to be not the pandemic, but just the fact the resorts are closed.

The DJIA is not the economy, but: up about 1,000 during another serious, science- and action-based press conference.

All the market wants, and what our country needs, is a serious, science-based, aggressive, war-like footing.

Ranchers here are worried about cattle poaching. Me and a coworker got an offer today to be range riders protecting cattle when we run out of work here. Interesting times we are living in.

Interesting times indeed. Lemme know if there are any additional openings in the range rider industry. In a vacuum, that sounds enjoyable.

Just got word I’m prob gonna be laid off next week.

I promptly responded with, HELL YA BRO I’M GETTIN LAID! Wait, laid off, wut?

But anywho, trying to stay productive despite that.

Damn....bad timing dude. Defix just left The Empire and they locked the gate behind him.

Oh dang.

Depending on what happens, I’d put myself in quarantine for a couple weeks before I visit anyone. I’ve encountered way too many oblivious tourists lately, and wouldn’t wanna be the one to taint the empire.
