I would have also been more than fine with JJ out.

Yeah. It does seem that Sherman said this won't be last change. Matheny likely gone as well, soon.
Would imagine Sherman gives JJ a chance to hire own manager. Just go outside the system, please.

I still think Carlos Beltran deserves a shot at managing a team. Royals should give him that chance.

Funny how they sweep the Twins after Moore is shown the door.

Turned on the game after the NFL travesty game in Indy. Just as the Royals came back down 9 in the 6th. Royals rally went to 11.

Avoided 100 looses.
Gonna finish last in the AL Central.

Damn, are they even back from Cleveland yet?!
I was very indifferent on Matheny returning. Complete lame duck, so whatever. Then the Athletic article came out and I'm not sure what else you do but burn everything but some of the players to the ground.

I contended that Matheny cost the Royals 20+ games this year--the Atlantic article mentioned the metrics supported that. Reminds me of the Far Side cartoon with the obese helper at the busy donut store that was somehow mysteriously "just eeking by."

Carlos Beltran the early betting favorite.

I've been agreeing with Rany less and less, but I agree with this. You can check this thread, I absolutely hated the Matheny hire, but looking back it seemed it didn't matter all that much. Mostly because of all of the shit going on in the rest of the organization.

Moore was a menace the last seven years. I am still pissed at a lot of his stupid moves. Could have signed Soler for Dozier money. Could have cut Dozier. Junis went from a fine pitcher to a jumble of nerves.

The Royals are dangerously close to having to abandon a rebuild and start a new rebuild.
No one should keep their job after that.

The issue has nothing to do with Soler.
It’s either draft pick whiffs or failure to develop those draft picks.
Matheny wasn’t getting this club to anything we originally projected.

I agree largely. But he literally didn't sign and keep anyone good the last 10-years either. And then there were the COVID warriors.

Sounds like the new manager is a lot different philosophically than what we've been used to under Dayton. If JJ is not a chip off the old block, we might have something we can work with here.
It was also recently reported that the Royals made ~$263 million in the latest fiscal year--a franchise record.

263M. Jeebus. They milked the 13-15 runs for everything. Wouldn't want to sign expensive free agents when we had that run a decade ago.

Sold O'Hearn to the Baltimore Plantation.
