I love Michigan. Mom was from flint. She’d take me down by river to get Coneys and show me the house they lived in as a kid. I think it was a crack den in these later days.

Come to think of it, not much diversity in the company we saw. Maybe it’s not ‘racism’ as much as a more intentional segregation within communities in such areas.

Oh, and Koegels are the best hot dogs ever. With Flint style chili. Can order online. Delicious. Couple that owns mail-order company actually travels and sets up shop along the way to their destinations most summers (Koegels on the road).

Per gutter’s questions of the day, I’m moving to Canada or maybe Norway.

The way we are the only ‘1st world’ country that is seeing such a large jump in covid19 cases and a seeming inability to control things, I wonder how much the rest of the world simply responds ‘Americans’ to the title of this thread.

I think Independence Day should be not simply about some mindless celebration of freedom, but some conscious recognition of the ongoing struggle for freedom. We’ve come a long way, but we’ve still got a long way to go.

With that said, I think this year’s 4th has a lot more to celebrate and to recognize than most other years.
