Fucking love it!

Kellyn Acosta take a bow.

Pulisic with a quality finish. 3-0 USA!

So a tie in Mexico would give us the opportunity to tie Panama and still finish third as long as Mexico beats Panama tonight.

Go Mexico. I don’t care. I want space between 3 and 4.

Not sure there is a realistic chance for El Salvador to beat Canada tonight, but that would be a pleasant surprise. Hopefully Mexico takes care of business and beats Panama.

25 - Canada (potentially 22 or 23)
21 - USA
21 - Mexico

17 - Panama
16 - Costa Rica

That's the best the US can hope for going into the final window

@Mexico
Panama
@Costa Rica

Man, I can’t wait to see a healthy Gio Renya back in the fold. Put him at RW and let him work.

Pepi wasn't so good yesterday but I still think he needs to get play in the last window.
If Daryl Dike doesn't recover, Pepi is probably our best option.
Miss me with Sargent.

Pepi has the most potential. He's not hesitant either. He'll shoot it when he thinks he can. Some of the other guys get too fancy in the box and end up losing the ball.

The Sargent hate is way over the top, he's unfortunately become the poster child for the anti-europe/pro-mls crowd (and there's always at least one of these guys). The Werder Bremen teams he played on were so bad. He's now a 21 year old regular/starter in the Premier League. Albeit with a very poor Norwich City club.

He's also been the victim of trash service from both club and country while not a being a traditional CF/ST.

I would not be surprised if Pepi, Dike and Sargent all make the WC squad. They all bring something different to the table and are valuable pieces to have. Pefok, Hoppe and Ferreira are probably on the outside looking in at this point. Pefok could take Dike's spot depending on health and form.

Nice piece on the USMNT

Even though A. Robinson has pretty much locked own the LB position, I'd still like to see Bines and Bello get some time this year. Amazing how that went from a glary hole to a fairly deep position in less than a year. RB also a fairly solid and deep group.

CB is still a bit of a mess. A lot of potential, but no one has really stepped up to be the leader of that group. I'm hopeful that Gregg and Brooks can work out their differences. He's without a doubt the most talented player in the group. I might jump out a fucking window if Tim Ream ever plays another significant minute for the team.

Acosta's recent form shows in the depth chart. I'm not sure I agree that he's a better choice than Busio (or even Sands), but he's played well lately. Put Yueill in the same category as Ream.

Striker (as discussed in the article) is a fucking mess as well. Someone needs to step up there. I think you could put the 6 players listed on the depth chart in any order you want. Honestly, if no one steps up, I wouldn't mind trying either Weah, Pulisic or Aaronson in a false 9 type role. Reyna could maybe get a look there as well.

Can someone send Horvath a life raft? That dude is sinking fast.

I think the best 11 is as follows...

GK - Turner
RB - Dest
CB - M Robinson
CB - Brooks
LB - A Robinson
CDM - Adams
CM - McKennie
CM - Musah
RW - Reyna
ST (False 9) - Pepi
LW - Pulisic

First 4 off the bench
Weah - Can play any top role
Zimmerman - Best CB on bench
Aaronson - Dangerous in the box
de la Torre - The perfect CM who can play on either side of the field.

I think it’s a tossup between Turner and Steffen at GK.

I’m not sure who #2 is at CB behind Brooks. I’d probably take Zimmerman over M. Robinson but the 2-5/6 spots are an unknown right now. My hope is that Richards will take over that spot.

Ultimately I think Pepi might just be too young. I’d bet that one of Dike, Pefok or Sargent end up in that spot. I think youth can be a problem in that role. Loads of pressure. Think about a guy like Altidore. He was also starting in the Premiere League in his teens but he didn’t really develop into a reliable international scorer until his early/mid 20’s.
