The customer has responsibility, too. I would not be pissed off by doing my part (as a paying customer) to reduce the harm from freeloading...because the inevitable outcome of unmitigated freeloading is that ALL PAYING CUSTOMERS end up footing the bill for it.
I need to think about to what extent I agree with the first sentence.

But, here's what I know. If I hadn't logged into Netflix for a while, and as a result, my bill went up and there were suddenly commercials...I'd be pissed.

If I logged in while staying in a hotel and had to delete a previous place I had logged in to do so, that I'd be ok with.
But again you're drilling into implementation concerns. I'm not suggesting that things would be automatic. There would be a process that is essentially opt-in. And, if you don't opt-in when asked, then there are consequences.
It seems to me you're treating it more like a Co-op than a service provider.

I'm fine with them protecting their product from theft, but I don't want to have to jump through any excessive hoops.

I mean, if this is a buffet, I'm fine with them not allowing people to share a plate, charge everyone as an individual. But I'm not going to help do the dishes.
I only came to kick some ass...

How are you doing the dishes by being asked to use a new plate when you go back for seconds?

I come here for PhD's streaming metaphors. I leave with all of the ribs in my backpack. Along with 16 dinner rolls and 18 pats of butter.

We may be on the same page. I'm fine with getting a new plate. But I don't want to have to shape it from clay and throw it in the kiln. It may be your use of terms like opt-in and consequences.

If you mean, I have to re-sign in and verify myself...no big deal. (which gets back to my original point of why is there so much outrage, I have had to re-sign in and verify for other streaming services like HBO, ESPN and Hulu.)

But if my monthly rate goes up for not logging in, that seems like a different level. (washing my own dish).

I like how this thread is in the 70's in pages and we have freeloaders acting like they don't log into their services once a month.

I mean, I'd be ok with having to pass an authentication whenever I'm not on my usual devices. That's already how many things work!

It's really, REALLY unobtrusive. It's only in really strange edge cases where this is simply not practicable (and really, most of those cases are where a lack of data access means streaming wouldn't work anyway).

Getting back onto TV:

Knowing now that reviewers probably had access to the first four episodes, I can firmly be in the camp of high 90's Rotten Tomatoes for The Last of Us.

Episode 3 was a mini movie.
Probably a bad time to release, but if Offerman can stay in the medias mind, he's got to have at least a nomination here.

I'd just like to congratulate Spectrum for coming up with a commercial even more annoying than limu emu.

LOL.
I thought IMMEDIATELY of ousdahl when this happened the other night.

Spoilers:

The show is still very good but it's dropping off a bit for me ( largely bc I've played the game ) - this last episode in particular.

I think I just needed one more action scene with Joel kicking ass - just like 5 minutes at the University. The guys ( who if I remember right are cannibals ) patrolling the area were more well armed and he inevitably gets into a tussle and falls out a window onto a spike and has to take out some dudes still impaled - and instead he gets rushed by some dude with a bat or hammer and just happens to get stabbed.

Last of Us didn't change the expansion material, Left Behind, one bit.

I just watched Loudermilk. Actually pretty good. Not picked up I guess after season three. Almost worth watching for Sasso's Futura Falcon convertible
