and maybe it's fanboy sentiments and qualitative eye test, but, I value RR more than Dajuan just cuz I remember RR competing hard and playing fearless and aggressive, and never got that overwhelmed "oh shit I totally regret having the moms tell the older neighborhood kids they gotta let me play too" look that Dajuan is prone to.
Fail.
This is why you devalue Perry Ellis - because he doesn't meet your 'body language' expectations.
Body language IS some element, sure.
Let’s not act like it’s no indication at all.
And it’s not simply body language, it’s on-court (lack of) performance that comes from looking mentally and/or physically soft. Theres a correlation here.

BDick would swipe left on Dajuan in his dating apps so that means he's worse than RussRob.

2. I think he deserves a bit of the “if he had better players around him” benefit of the doubt we afford Dajuan.
We don't do that for DH.
He's played with awesome players during his time at KU. CB JW Och Gradey Furphy McCullar Hunter Dmac. Thats why he has a national championship.
It's fun how illy says we don't do that for DH, then goes on to do precisely that for DH.
Huh? Where did I say DH would be better if he had better players around him?
God damn you're annoying.
Do you have any human interaction in real life or is this the only way to cure your loneliness?
And the idea MG "always played aggressive" is laughable. He was a hesitant shooter and non threat from 3, just like you bash DH for being. Except he didn't get as many assists.

Why don't we just wait and see what happens this season before ranking dajuan anywhere.
Because what if things go well.. we fuck around and win a title or final 4.
Dajuan averaged something around:
10-12 pts
6-8 assists
2 steals
Reasonable numbers right?
And suddenly dajuan is the starting pg on 2 final four teams. The legacy looks pretty good
We win a title? Dajuan becomes a 2 time champion as the starting pg....

Dajuan's best season ( 2023 ) is better than any season, statistically, than Russ Rob ( 2006 ) ever had.
Dajuan's season last year ( 2023-24 ) is better than RussRob's last season ( 2008 ).
Dajuan has won B12DPOY.

Can you kindly knock off the loneliness smack talk please?
I mean, speaking of annoying.
But yes, if we can actually keep the hoops bored about hoops discussion - I remember Marcus Garrett actually having that “I’m the senior leader of this team so I better act like it” sort of presence, at least more so than other guys on this end of the list.
And the “he played with awesome players during his time at KU” and “that’s why he has a national championship” kinda sounds like the “better players around him” benefit of the doubt I’m talking about…you forgot Remy btw.

This post is reasonable.
I’ll be thrilled if Juan can average double digit points this season…and/or if this team can get to the final weekend.

This.
In my opinion he can't move down, only up at this point.
There is only 1 other guy on that list with a national title.
So as much as everyone loves to bash DH for not having the play style of Frank or Devonte, he's had more postseason success than either of them.

Dajuan scored 26 against arkansas... a team with 2 nba level athletes in the backcourt. I think 9/10 ppg and 6/7 assists is reasonable attainable numbers for dajuan. Those are good numbers

Maybe I misunderstood you, but it sure seemed like you were saying we give DH the benefit of the doubt that he'd look better surrounded by better players.
Either way. It's dumb and wrong.

No substance.
Just the eye test from a guy who doesn't watch all of the games and who never played basketball.

Damn.
Well that also rules me out ( unless you count pick up games with my friends as playing basketball ).
My freshman year at KU, if I wasn't drinking Friday night, i'd be playing 3 hours of ball at Robinson, always driving right and missing layups.

Just more KU hoops smack talk from a guy who never actually went to KU.

I really do think that “we” (either significant portions of the fan base and Dajuan apologists in particular, and/or maybe even the program as a whole too) afford this as justification for yet another year of Dajuan in a big role.

Yea, cuz I’m a fan who does watch pretty much every game, and values winning above all else. I think the key to winning is largely some combo of superior talent/skill and competitiveness.
That’s what I get sentimental about - more so than “I don’t like them just cuz of NIL, they should be doing it for allegiance to the school and the love of the game” sorts of sentiments.

Like besides the fact he has already, in terms of both individual stats and also team accomplishments, from season to season, moved down?

Frank got to several elite 8s. Devonte too, plus a final four.
Dajuan got a natty, yea, but also otherwise got bounced in the first weekend more than those other guys.
But this is now some next level silly offseason fanboy talk.
And heck yes I’m here for it!
Still more fun than the pols bored.

I've long said that I think Hunter Dickinson is an elite college player.
I think Illy's list is not players he liked but the best players ( point guards ) at Kansas.
If we were doing best centers under Self I wouldn't consider, say, Sasha Kaun over Hunter even though I liked Sasha significantly more.

In terms of individual accolades, yea.
But Sasha very well might be a better piece to build a contender with, I suppose. Dude was tougher and defensively better.
And yea, in terms of fan sentiments, prob more to like...4 year program guy versus 1-2 year mercenary.
We can plausibly give Sasha the benefit of the doubt that he didn't even get paid to play, either!
