It just feels like this is a low-floor, medium-ceiling team.
We've basically only got 5 guys. It's always going to feel that way when 2 or 3 play poorly.
We've been striking out on the most talented players for a while now. Is Gradey the only lotto pick we have had in the last 4 or 5 years?

Zakai Zeigler is a naw dawg for me.
RJ Davis plays a lot of point - where is he?
Where's Mark Sears?
Where's Xavier Johnson?
KJ Simpson?
Bruce Thornton?
Jordan Pope?

RJ Davis 21.2 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 3.3 APG, 44.8% FG.
3rd ranked team in the country.
Zakai Zeigler 10.2 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 5.1 APG, 39.7% FG.
5th ranked team in the country.
Dajuan Harris 7.2 PPG, 2 RPG, 6.9 APG, 41.4% FG.
8th ranked team in the country.

Stats comparable except for points-leading in assists of that group. What doesn't show is defense.

21.2 PPG at 45% and being a target of the defense is far better than 7.2 PPG at 41% and having defenses treat you as the fifth scoring threat on the court.
And 14 PPG >>> 3.6 APG.

Dajuan deserves to be on that list.
The Bob Cousy award is not solely about scoring.

RJ Davis deserves to be on that list more imo.

It's weird he's not on it. Wonder if he's on the Jerry West award list instead?
Edit: RJ was on the top 20 Cousy list but did not make the top 10.

Wonder how big of a role fan voting plays into it?
Although can't tell me UNC wouldn't have as much participation as some of the other schools with players on the list.
Would RJ have the lowest assists per game of any of the 10 finalists?

When Bill Self says DH is the best "true PG in the country" is he lying or is he wrong?

I am confident that HCBS knows better than any of us

Bill Self has been here for over 20 years.
Surely you know Bill Self talk by now.

Oh, I do.....but I find it interesting how "Self speak" is applied only to the comments he makes that we disagree with.
I think Self (and others) truly feels like DH is the best true PG in the country. I don't think he's lying about it.
That doesn't mean he can't ever be wrong though.

Right.
I don’t think the list is that great.

Self says all his players are the greatest at some point in their career.

Right.

Is it because of the low assist numbers?
I don't disagree that RJ should be on the list....but there are probably guys I'd knock out before DH.
Unless it's just a raw stats thing. Then I get it. If the Cousy award player needs to average at least 15ppg to be eligible then the Cousy award wouldn't be something that DH should be considered for.

I’d knock Zeigler out that’s for sure.
RJ Davis is somewhat a volume shooter and is definitely more score first point but he’s also one of the top 15 players in the country…and Ziegler and Harris are not.
It’s a subjective award where I’m sure they are looking for great facilitators and distributors but that’s definitely not the only way to judge a point guard. This isn’t 1950.
Also where TF is Mark Sears from Alabama? Not on that list? Lolz.
