What's the over/under that Psych is relieved every time dolomite/Imzcount passes through, because at least, temporarily, he won't come across as the most whacko-brained conspiracy theorist here?
You're the one who keeps celebrating every time a new wave of horrible financial news comes through. There's really not another rational explanation for that kind of behavior.
"...celebrating every time a new wave of horrible financial news comes through..."
I'll admit that as a value investor, seeing an end to the longest bull market in history, (thanks, Obama), and having the first chance to buy companies I've been following for years while they're on sale before they become overvalued again in a matter of days, is a gift. But, it would be a "gift" under any circumstances, it's not particular to the pandemic.
I'm a liberal and believe to my soul that
we all do better when we all do better, and I hope everything improves immensely, soon. I take no satisfaction in seeing anyone "lose" in this, or any other situation. That being said, I see Trump as an existential threat to not only nearly everything we as Americans hold dear, but potentially, the world. It wasn't me, it was Donald Trump who tied his success to the stock market. So if Trump is hoist by the very
petard he created, who am I to blow against the wind?

We all do better when we all do better, except for those who don’t recover, which will be a significant number. Schadenfreude.

I'd rather be broke than dead. I have already survived being dead ass broke; if I had to do it again I am confident that I could.
I am much less confident about my ability to overcome death. I havent had to do it yet but my initial analysis has me doubting whether I can pull it off.

Which makes it all the more gobsmacking to think that if we follow your advice and aren't willing to undergo a relatively brief period of isolation, the pandemic will last longer, significantly more people will die, and much more long-term damage will be done to the economy, than if we are.

I’ve resigned myself to giving up April. What upsets me is the people who talk about May and June as if we will just bounce back from a 1929-level economic event afterward. It boggles the frickin’ mind.

Once they lift this, I am betting that I cant get into a restaurant with less than an hour wait for a long time. No,we will not be back to 100% but we will be fine over time. We have survived far worse than this.

Coroners are reporting that they are not being allowed to test people who they suspect have died from coronavirus because they are being told that years are reserved for the living.
So take that death toll count and multiply it. By how much, who knows?

This is true by most countries. I linked a few days ago that Italy is
not counting folks who died at home/not at hospitals, but likely COVID. And it wasn't insignificant numbers.

This needs to be fixed, fast:
Furor Erupts: Billions Going To Hospitals Based On Medicare Billings, Not COVID-19
...
Migoya and executives at other beleaguered systems are blasting the government’s decision to take a one-size-fits-all approach to distributing the first $30 billion in emergency grants. HHS confirmed Friday it would give hospitals and doctors money according to their historical share of revenue from the Medicare program for seniors — not according to their coronavirus burden.
That method is “woefully insufficient to address the financial challenges facing hospitals at this time, especially those located in ‘hot spot’ areas such as the New York City region,” Kenneth Raske, CEO of the Greater New York Hospital Association, said in a memo to association members.
States such as Minnesota, Nebraska and Montana, which the pandemic has touched relatively lightly, are getting more than $300,000 per reported COVID-19 case in the $30 billion, according to a Kaiser Health News analysis.
On the other hand, New York, the worst-hit state, would receive only $12,000 per case. Florida is getting $132,000 per case. KHN relied on a state breakdown provided to the House Ways and Means Committee by HHS along with COVID-19 cases tabulated by The New York Times.
...Medicare revenue can vary sharply by hospital, depending on who their patients are and what part of the country they are in.

According to what I've read elsewhere, rural hospitals have been really hard hit by the loss of elective surgeries and PT appointments--seems like Trump is going to make that up by distributing the emergency grants to places where his base lives.

Yes they have.
Yea, we shouldnt help the rural hospitals. Let them fail, let them close. Let those rural people struggle to get health care. Fuck those ill educated bumfuck bubbas that can only succeed and get jobs when the government gives them jobs and places to work close to their homes since they are too fucking stupid to move out of their small town. Fuck'em all. Only cityfolk should survive.

Look at your own short sighted local and state governments for the struggling hospitals. Tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts.

Sure. But, that doesnt mean they shouldn't receive funding to help them deal with issues that are impacted hy the coronavirus. Even if it might mean bubba dumfuck yahoo corrections officer also gets to use the services.

they should receive their proportional share, based on need
doesn’t seem like that’s what’s happening at all, presuming the reports are true
