21 minutes today. 4 assists 0 turnovers.

Figure it out Bill.
Hard to keep a guy on the floor that is zero chance to score when your team struggles to score. The good of Harris' game is really encouraging but him out there but the holes in his game makes it harder for everyone else on the floor. He doesn't need to be guarded at all.

I generally am pretty positive and upbeat about our teams. 2018 was bad, i was down on that team. I like this team personnel better but i am as down on this team as i have been in 20 years. I hope they prove me wrong

He has gotten a number of those ( not one of them today ) from the other team giving him those looks.

Harris has a solid future and if Garrett could shoot, maybe you run him point with Garrett out there.

I think he should get minutes because at this point, you can’t get much worse.

But your best is when guys who have proven they can score 20 plus points, and all have, are out there.

Agree with what jfish said a couple weeks ago. Team is missing a superstar. Everyone should be in a role that is one grade lower than what we need from them this year. Och would be a great Robin. CB is a situational player that could kill a second unit. Wilson is a Swiss army knife and we're asking a lot from him. Dave's a good 4th or 5th option. Garrett can have some nice games but he's just not a PG in today's basketball.

The program needs to stop sulking and concentrating on what this team does not have and find what the best version of this team is. It's probably something where we get a little bit of good things out of 8 or 9 guys every single game. All of them, because it sure seems we have almost no margin for error for a single rotation player to have a no-show game.

Covid is no excuse because Covid exists in Waco and Spokane, etc. The NCAA investigation may have affected recruiting and softened Bill a bit, but that's where that stops. Our offensive is not creative and the team lacks a high-level power 5 PG--that's a huge deal. There's also not enough pride or accountability on the defensive end. We seem pouty, and pissed off about how 2020 ended. Time to get over it and gain an identity as a team and be the best it can be at the end of the season, even if that is only a Sweet 16 caliber team.

I agree with that 100%! On the Baylor thread/game, someone here told me that that wasn’t necessary.

Harris gave up several offensive rebounds and was beaten to several 50/50 balls just because he's small. Those don't show up in the stat sheet but helped spot OU 8-10 free points.

It's great that he doesn't turn the ball over, is a good passer, and keeps things moving, but what else does he do.

He's playing 15 mpg, but it feels like he's playing about half that because he has long stretches where he just deosn't do anything.

Braun 33 minutes. 1 rebound. 1 assist. 0FG

Wilson 31 minutes. 0 rebounds. 0 assist. 3 turnovers.

Pointing out that we have a slew of guys being unproductive doesn't make make the argument that a different unproductive guy is somehow better.

I'm with PhD, box scores tell almost no story on Harris. I think doyel is too high on him. I hope we recruit over him unless he develops a shot like Mason did--I just don't see that happening.

We need a guard that can get shots for others. Harris has shown he’s more than capable of doing that. If you want to keep putting Garrett out there at PG (where he has been pretty damn terrible) then go right ahead. The team will go nowhere.

I don't think that's avoidable this season given the available talent. This season was lost on the recruiting trail.

You're right about there being a problem, I just don't see Harris as the solution.

I think the solution needs to come from Bill's whiteboard and maybe Garrett weirdly found a shot today like Miles did in 2005 and Tyshawn in 2012.

Yes, but this team is also more talented and better than what they've played over the last 3 weeks.

This (in bold).

And the thing is, I like Harris. But he's been getting more than 20 mpg the past two games and we looked terrible both outings.

True. The lack of communication on switches today has nothing to do with talent. Wilson not being in a defensive stance with 5 seconds on the shot clock while guarding the ball on the most important possession of the game has nothing to do with talent. Dribbling into crowds over and over again has nothing to do with talent.

So... Coaching??

It’s also likely a poise thing, that in large part comes with experience.

IMO no one on this roster is either capable of or willing to step up and take the lead dog role. Out of all of those guys you listed they are all really good complimentary pieces but none of them can be the man night in and night out. Some of that is on the staff and the other is on the players themselves.
Its pretty clear to me this is an average middle of the pack team. Most schools would be happy with that but here at KU the whole world might be falling apart. Self has been so consistent for so long but you can tell even he can find the answers anymore. This program has been on cruise control for so long maybe this is the wake up call the WHOLE staff needs that reality can come at you real quick. Self is a HOF’er and with this roster we are asking him to make chicken salad out of chicken shit. Time to earn that paycheck.
