This right here, LSU's long-standing commitment to covering this all up, is going to save Long's job for now.
This from the guy who vetted Snoop as a Late Night performer and was then surprised by the content of his performance.
"I asked him, and he told me no" is some crackerjack diligence work.
The first that popped into my mind was "I asked Putin if Russia meddled in the election and he said no so I don't think it happened".

Lol at Mike Vernon thinking he's breaking something that has been obvious for over a year now.

Speaking of Girod...unless I have missed something he has been awfully quiet about this if not completely silent.
Jeff Long is a dead man walking.

He’s been very odd lately. Trying to just put on a journalism hat.

That is true.
But I think Long's presser yesterday was the nail in the coffin. It was really bad. When Mellinger goes after you, it's really bad. Sam doesn't do hit pieces, but that was a well-deserved hit piece.

Maybe just long enough to get the interim football staff in place.

Fescoe just tweeted out something similar...'get your popcorn ready'
Speaking of...what? Floodman, maybe. Danny?!? If these are the donors calling the shots for our next HC we might as well all prepare for the Clint Bowen era.

Athletic director searches are weird. Where do you even start? See if Mitch Barnhart wants to come home?

Yeah the presser yesterday was the final straw.

I honestly think he would have stayed if it was not for that.
More importantly, you are going to make Bill Self happy too.

Yeah the presser yesterday was the final straw.
I see it differently; I think he was made to take the incoming fire yesterday, before being shown the door himself.

Sounds like we can expect a release from the university soon. Mellinger says there is an all-staff meeting happening in the next few minutes where this will be the topic.

Good point. Probably not that far off.
But it was a really bad look regardless. Odd that Girod would put him out there though if he was still representing KU.
