Panama eliminated and just out to fuck us over.

Take Pulisic out at half.

So US can be in with a win, a draw or a loss of less than 6 goals.

The World Cup is better with Ronaldo in it.

The World Cup is better with Ronaldo in it.

And a Kansas final is probably better with Duke in it. Don’t tell anyone here that 😉

Costa Rica is in a really odd position for tomorrow's match. They have 9 players, 4 of them regular starters, that would be suspended for the inter-conference playoffs should they get a yellow card Wednesday and Costa Rica finishes fourth. So they need to try to be aggressive and press hard to win by 6 or more goals but also rotate their squad to avoid potential suspensions should they not win.

That being said, 2 yellow cards = 1 game suspension over a 14-game qualifying round is a little harsh. CONCACAF should look at adjusting that rule.

Yes.
I'd say something like a 3 game clearance - i.e. I get a yellow card game 1, I have to make it 3 more appearances ( in which I actually play ) without a yellow card and then my plate is clean.

I kind of like this suggestion based on what the Premier League does.

It's very much expected we, along with Mexico, on qualification, will be placed in pot 2 because of our FIFA rank.

Others in pot 2: Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland, Croatia and Uruguay.
Pot 1: Qatar, Brazil, Belgium, France, Argentina, England, Spain, Portugal

Give us Qatar, England or Portugal please.

Portugal's win yesterday afternoon ended the USA's slim chances of making it into Pot 1. Essentially locked into Pot 2 now. We can't drop into Pot 3 and the only way to end up in Pot 4 would be to lose tonight by 6+ and then win the playoff match in June.

Really curious what US lineup is like tonight. Do they stay aggressive and stay with 4-3-3 or do they go with a deeper backline and do something like a 5-3-2?

I think they stay aggressive and stay at the 4-3-3.

Pulisic-Pepi-Weah
Musah-Adams-Acosta
A Robinson-M Robinson-Zimmerman-Yedlin
Steffen at keeper

Reyna, Busio, Arriola, Shaq Morris and maybe Palmer-Brown as subs to look for.

Judging by what Berhalter has done in the past, I think he'll stay aggressive. He didn't bunker in or put out a second-choice lineup at Mexico and I don't expect him to do so tonight.

I mean, he did kind of punt on getting a win against Mexico when he went to a 5-3-2 in the last 20 minutes or so. But his original lineup was an aggressive lineup.

US has nothing to lose. Just go for it. And then have the guys rest but then play in some top-notch friendlies and I think there might be a competition this summer that could be played in.

Right, that's what I meant. He didn't bunker in for 90 minutes, just made the changes necessary to see out the draw over the last 15-20 minutes.

Side note: Reggie Cannon is back with the team in Costa Rica after having to stay in Mexico with Covid. He may get a few minutes tonight.
