Our governor took it a bit too far and issued an executive order mandating face masks in all places public - and pointed out parking lots and sidewalks.

I'm sorry, I'm not wearing a mask outdoors while walking on a sidewalk or running in a park in MAINE.
and that’s common sense. i’m not gonna wear one when taking the dogs for hikes up in the mountains either

i just don’t get why it took so long for these actions. we’re now at 20%+ positivity, with most urban hospitals having to open up over-flow icu wards. why? all of this could’ve been prevented or mitigated had steps been taken when positive rates started creeping above 10%. Herbert just kept saying he was relying on the citizenry to act responsibly and do what was best for everyone and their neighbors, even as it was evident that wasn’t happening.

So another Covid test - would be hard to figure there have already been two false negatives, but I suppose that's just math and it'll happen to someone.

Pneumonia, as of yet unexplained.
And, Covid-negative again. So my daughter has something else that has caused her (and only her, in our house) to be 100+ and miserable for a week, and now have pneumonia.

Legionella pneumophila can cause pneumonia and is not transmitted person to person.

Sheesh Fish. That sounds really odd. Hope for the best for the middle guppy. As many have stated, having sick kids and not getting answers is just awful for parents. Hang in there.

As my RN wife said, this is going to be the most confusing time for winter sicknesses. Don't know what it will be and Covid is always going to be hanging over our heads, but could be something as simple as a cold, or worse, pneumonia and things along those lines.

Symptoms are consistent. Would sure be a kick in the nuts if she got it from the HVAC system at her school (which seems like the only place she's really been in that fits the bill).

As I’ve come to learn, and of course this is all fluid, but when a doctor dx’s someone with what they’re calling COVID Pneumonia, at that point the person is not going to test positive for COVID or be contagious for anything.

Just adds to the confusion.

That's grounds for a one-day ban.

Well on our way to 400,000 dead by Christmas. Morgue staffing a problem. This is Trump’s parting shot.

Our schools are rolling back from green mode full time to yellow mode 2 days a week after Thanksgiving due to rapidly rising positivity rates locally.

There are fewer than 100 hospital beds open in the KC metro at the moment. Hold onto your butts, kids.

Apparently staffing levels are so critical in North Dakota that the Gov is now saying that RNs who are positive can care for COVID patients. A whole new level of WTF!

Maybe this is death panel that the Repubs were warning us about.

saw that report on the news this morning. report indicated the the CDC had “approved” such things, whatever that’s worth...or, at least that was the justification given by their governor

The CDC probably took “do whatever you want” approach. In mom/wifespeak this means “my answer is no. But it doesn’t matter what I say because you’re going to do what you’re going to do. At least I will save you the explicit guilt of not going against my words”.

Looking another way it’s probably not so egregious, I suppose. When we develop a drug for oncology treatments there is significant regulatory leeway for controlling potentially genotoxic impurities. The rationale being that the potential risk of cancer from long term treatment is not really a concern for patients who have already failed at least two cycles of approved therapy. If you are developing a therapy for blood pressure you would never get away with even the slightest risk of cancer resulting from long term use.

But it’s really not an adequate analogy. What about other coworkers? Anyway it’s still WTF!

in my mind, it’s really only egregious because it was entirely preventable

Wife is getting possible messages to do an RN travel spot in KC. She may do it if the fees are right. Go up and stay in a hotel a few nights a week.
