IMO, Dances With Wolves was terrible, so I doubt I'd care for Avatar.
But, that's just me.
oh my god....are...you okay ?
Dances with Wolves is probably a top 5 movie of all time, top 10 at the absolute lowest.
avatar wasn't near as good as DWW. Just similarities in storyline etc.
People who prefer Coors beer don't get to lecture me about "taste".
oh....i can ....and I will.
as for the beer. I prefer my beer to be refreshing. IPAs taste like an old sock that's been rubbed on a dogs ass, mixed with sawdust and then spritzed with cherry perfume. .... Nobody likes them, they just pretend they do to be cool and fancy. There is nothing less satisfying or refreshing than an IPA.
Dances with wolves top 10 easily.

I like IPA's and don't think they taste like that.
But many IPA's have gone "full juice" i.e. way too hoppy.
I've grown to not bother with Double IPA's anymore -- the bitterness is overdone.
If anyone is up in the Portland Maine area and doesn't typically like IPA's ( or loves IPA's and wants a great one ) I would recommend Lunch at Maine Beer Company. It's the best IPA i've ever had - and I think it's because it's bitter hops are toned down and smooth.
I am hopeful that this IPA phase in beer making ends soon. I have found a few that are decent but most of them are not enjoyable or refreshing at all. Too fattening, too heavy and tastes too much like someone poured it through their sweaty running shoe into a glass.

I'll fall in the middle here and say it's a top 200 movie for me but likely not top 100.
Certainly not top 5.
I found Dances With Wolves to be boring and heavy handed. It's certainly not a movie I would ever watch gain if I was flipping channels and saw that it was on. I am not a movie buff enough to care about whatever people like about it.

I bet I saw it 90 times between 1990 and 1999. I'm not a movie guy either. But I loved it, and it was the 90s so we also only had 4 channels.

At the time, Dancing with Wolves was the first movie where I left the movie feeling like shit. It does not have a happy ending like movies typically do. The grand scenery and accompanying music were fantastic. There was realism that we were not yet used to seeing in movies.
I have never been a fan of Kevin Costner. I think he is pretty much the same person in every movie. I don't really think actors are all that gifted and certainly are not worthy of the fame and fortune we give them. But anyway, Dancing with Wolves is good and Bull Durham was fun.
Anyway, looking at Dancing with Wolves now, decades later, it is cool to see a movie where the scenes are real (before CGI). The stampedes etc and rides are real. That just doesn't get done anymore.

Yes.
I saw it on a plane and still walked out on it.

The English Patient was so ridiculous. Did not hold up at all. Dances with Wolves was one of those movies that was intended as a moral play over three hours. If it had stayed within the inter-tribal warfare without Costner or his love interest, it could have been a good film. Instead, it was like Alan Alda on the last year of MASH.

Watched AIR tonight - on TV.
Better than I thought it would be. I'll give it a 7 out of 10.

The early seasons with Henry as commander are actually pretty good. That show got terrible though.

Watched The Diplomat on Netflix. It was pretty good and very interesting despite being a bit heavy handed on it's inclusivity messaging. All the white males were idiots spiraling towards nuclear war while all the women and minorities were all geniuses keeping the world from get blown up by white males.
