Mahomes high ankle sprain.
Not looking good for the 3 games in 10 days stretch.
This is a little
too simplistic, but: thx, Andy.
For?
Playing Mahomes in the 3rd quarter?

Lotsa Twitter worrywarts out there calling out Andy Reid for calling too many pass plays in the 2nd half, "putting Mahomes at risk". Always easy to work backwards from a negative outcome to find something to complain about.

For continuing to put Mahomes in harm's way to a needless degree.
We were up three scores on a terrible Browns team. There was no reason to roll the dice as many times as we did. And sure enough, one (or more) of those dice rolls came up snake-eyes in a manner that could impact a lot of things.

It was bad process regardless of outcome. But the outcome was a perfectly foreseeable result of the bad process.

Meh.
It was a 2 score game when Mahomes got hurt - they were out of FG range.
Home field advantage vs Buffalo ( and a bye ) is important.
I blame Andy .001 percent.

Pat was out there getting killed, and Andy couldn't stop dropping him back. Andy's second half playcalling was braindead regardless of whether or not there was a bad outcome (which there was).
I would put Andy's blame closer to 100% than .001%. I absolutely agree that the bye (and to a lesser degree, homefield advantage) is super important.
And our chances took a big dent thanks to Pat getting needlessly clobbered.

josh allen is making his move to overtake the league. so it doesn't really matter.

During the game thread in the second quarter we were asking WTF? with play calling. I think Butker was brought back too soon and the wind was awful in the second and third quarter. Run. The. Ball.

I do agree, in general, we need to run the ball more.

I would like us, specifically, to be running the ball more from under center. And running our play action off that. There is good data out there supporting the notion that this is a more effective use of play action - and I would think that it’s also a more effective way to use this line’s (interior) strength.
On that last item - it’s also why we need to keep pushing Humphries. Thuney was better at LT than the injured version of Morris. But it weakens us a LOT inside. So whether it’s Humphries or getting Morris healthy, we’ve GOT to try to avoid moving Thuney out.

Lamar has had a better season than Josh Allen but it seems to be Allen's "turn".

Allen has looked this good before…and then it just doesn’t happen.
Someday, it will. If his body doesn’t break down first.

Allen: 64.4 comp %, 3,395 pass yards, 8.0 yards/attempt, 242.5 yards/game, 25 pass TDs, 5 INTs, 103.5 passer rating, 91 rushes for 484 yards, 5.3 yards/rush, 11 rush TDs
Jackson: 68.1 comp %, 3,580 pass yards, 8.9 yards/attempt, 255.7 yards/game, 34 pass TDs, 3 INTs, 120.7 passer rating, 117 rushes for 743 yards, 6.4 yards/rush, 3 rush TDs
Lamar Jackson has better stats than Josh Allen in everything except rushing TDs and team wins.

Bills went and beat the Chiefs and stomped the Lions ( yes, they stomped them ).
Allen has been en fuego lately.
The Ravens lost to the Chiefs and....checks notes, the Raiders and the Browns...and Lamar didn't play well in those games.
If Lamar catches fire again ( I hope he does not this week, I hope he collapses for FF sake ) at the end of the season here, I think he could still be the favorite.

All of those things are true.
But, opponent, down 6, has the ball on its own 25 with 1:17 and one timeout left.
Who do the Chiefs fear more, Allen or Jackson?
I think the answer is Allen, no doubt.

Yes.
But that's because of Jackson's playoff implosion/history so far.
Of note, this is a regular season award ( though I do think it should extend to the playoffs personally ).

If I were in the big chair, I'd sit him Saturday, and then figure out what to do Wednesday based on how you do (and, I guess, how the Bills do...but c'mon).
If you lose Saturday and you lengthen his recovery (or, worse, he suffers a setback), you're good-and-effed for the 1 seed and the bye that comes with it.
You have a 1.5 game cushion. I'd take the risk of burning a game of that cushion, over the risk of burning the whole smash.

Mahomes isn’t going to agree to sit out if he can walk. I’d feel better if they sat him until the playoffs and worked on getting the running game going. Let Wentz take the beating until the games actually matter.

Of the three remaining games, i'd want Mahomes to sit this one out.
Houston has had issues this season...our defense could maybe steal that game.
I don't see a Mahomesless Chiefs winning @ PIT or @ DEN.
