My expectations are not higher than normal with this squad. I had higher expectations in '16 and '20 than I do for this team. My expectations going in to '15 were less.
That's probably a better way to put it (putting a seed on it). Certainly need to be a competitor for the league chip and in the tournament.

My expectations for this squad are pretty equal to what they were for 2020. No one can say they knew Udoka and Dot (and even MG) would be that good in Summer 2019.

I was pretty bullish on both Dot and Dok (probably more based on fandom than trying to claim some basketball expertise).

This team, for me, feels more like how I felt about the '19 squad going in (and going in I thought '19 would be better than they ended up). But there are a lot of new players, and a lot of unknowns.
I only came to kick some ass...

Rock the fucking house and kick some ass.

I like the Remy/Dedric comparison. I felt Dedric was as sure of a bet as we've ever had as a transfer. Feel the same about Remy. Dedric held up his end of the bargain.

I didn't expect 2020 Udoka to be in that much better shape, so maybe Och can have a similar transformation in his ability to aggressively get to the hole.

But, I also think there are less unknowns than 2019 because of how much we thought Grimes and Dot would come in and both just dominate the league.

I expect a 2 seed or better and a legitimate shot at a FF.

What I cannot handle is another non competitive, March blowout to a quick but not amazing team. 2 in a row of those is more than enough for the next couple decades.

I might be forgetting a season or two, but I think the common denominator to every bad tourney performance is not having our full arsenal of bigs

This season I think we'll finish top 10 in the AP and kenpom.
I would guess a 2 seed - but I expect at least a 3.
If we finish as a 4 seed, ( which means around 3rd place finish in B12 ) then the season'll be a let down sans a miracle run in the NCAA's.

4 would be a disaster. Big 12 is going to have 3 teams at a 3 seed or higher. Maybe even 2 seed or higher.

No reason for this team to be a 4 seed -- the season would be a total failure if they didn't somehow make the F4 from there. My prediction is a 2 but think 1 and 3 are very possible.

IMO, the single most important player is Remy. If he's a baller and able to score but also facilitate a bit more than he has before, then this team could be looking at #1 overall seed come March. We know what we have with a majority of the returners and we know a big weakness last year was PG play -- Remy is the engine. If he's as good as we think, it opens the floor for Dave/OA/Braun/Wilson.

Agree on all, but even a 3 seed is falling short in the regular season. Going to be AP Preseason #2. KenPom will be kind to this team because it plays defense. A ton of wins are on the schedule.

Plus a 3-seed means that UT wins the Big 12 and for a variety of reasons we don't want that to happen this year. Whoever wins the league is getting a 1-seed.

For reference, we have been preseason #1 3 times: 05, 10, 19.

05 ended up as a 3 seed, 19 ended up a 4 seed. Repeat those and we will be plenty disappointed.

Last year's team was a 3 seed, and considering the bad ball in the middle of it, we should expect to improve on that.

Good call on the 3 seed, but it's possible we're a 1 or 2 with Texas winning the Big 12. They are going to be really good. We could be looking at 2003 again.

2020 had KU and Baylor both as one seeds. Next best would have been Tech around a 6-7. This year could easily be KU and UT as 1's and Baylor as a 2 or 3.

Is Baylor gonna be any good?

Didn’t they loose a lot of upperclassmen and key players?

Remy, Och, DMac all on preseason first team Big 12. Remy POY.

A 4 seed and we burn down McCarthy Hall.

for me, i see very little difference between FF and natty expectations

if you’re good enough to expect a FF, you’re good enough to expect a natty
