Resting Mahomes guarantees nothing. He could get rolled up on again in 3 weeks, 4 weeks, whatever.

If he can play then he should play. The bye week right before the playoffs is more important than taking a week off a month before the playoffs and then having to play an entire additional playoff game.

If he's struggling moving and hasn't given time for his ankle to heal:

A. There's a greater chance of re-injury by aggravating it
B. There's a greater chance of injuring something else by not being able to move

This is why Wentz was brought in. Let him do his thing for a week and let Mahomes heal. Still a long ways to go if the 3peat is going to happen. No reason to push it this week (or next tbh).

yeah, if Wentz is good enough to get us through a week why is he on the roster?

It's my nature to be more concerned with downside risk than upside.

But man, I just don't see the juice being worth the squeeze, in playing Mahomes on Saturday. You still have a very decent shot at winning without him, and massive downside to playing him.

He's had these ankle things in the past.
Some have stopped him one game.
Others he's right back at it.

I agree that it's possible we can take the Texans, in our last regular season home game, with Wentz.

22. Kansas City Chiefs
Biggest mistake: Using a first-round pick on Clyde Edwards-Helaire (2020)

"At the time, this was seen as a luxury pick for a team stocked everywhere and therefore could justify using a first-round pick on a running back. Edwards-Helaire had been a dynamic receiver for Joe Burrow at LSU, which made him more useful than a typical back...And while it felt like the Chiefs could afford a luxury pick, they missed out on a number of superior options who went at the top of the second round. The next two backs off the board were D'Andre Swift and Jonathan Taylor. Xavier McKinney and Robert Hunt, two of the top free agents in the 2024 class, were taken among the next 10 selections. Pro Bowlers such as Antoine Winfield Jr., Jaylon Johnson and Trevon Diggs weren't far behind. The very next player drafted after Edwards-Helaire has tormented the Chiefs personally: Tee Higgins of the Cincinnati Bengals."

I wanted Swift or Trevon Diggs.

That said, I think their bigger mistake might have been signing Jawaan Taylor to his current contract.
He is the 11th highest paid tackle ( not right tackle, all tackles ) in the NFL yet consistently grades out as one of the worst starting tackles in the league - and is one of the most penalized players in the NFL.

The better option would have been tagging Orlando Brown and signing Wylie at RT at a significantly lower cost. We would be in the same situation this season ( if we again couldn't come to terms with Brown ) but with 11 million dollars to spend and, next season, would have an extra 17 million to spend.

If we win the next two games, the starters can take two weeks rest before the playoffs. Because then the Denver game would mean nothing to the Chiefs.

At the same time I think the Chiefs proved last year they don't need to be the #1 seed to make it to the Super Bowl.

If there are two people I trust to make the right decisions in this case, it is Reid and Mahomes. They have come up right call for the last two and a half seasons. I'm just along for the ride.

That's where I am, too. KC needs to get these next two wins and then they can have 2 weeks to get right prior to the playoffs thanks to winning the bye. it feels like that week off is more important than giving Mahomes this week off.

Good news is that KC seems ready to activate Hollywood Brown for this weekend's game. Maybe he can get some quicker separation and be available for more explosive plays on some quick dump offs/screens.

Well, no, he thought NIL would be good for college sports, baseball doesn't need a salary cap and that trading Creed Humphrey is a good idea.

In the meantime the Denver loss last night means that the final game may mean nothing for them as well with regards to the playoff seeding. Maybe they rest some starters in the game with the Chiefs as well?

I'm just hoping that your "as well" bears out.

What we're doing with Pat does not have the (non-) coveted jfish seal of approval.

Oh ye of little faith.

Mahomie hopped around on one muthafuckin leg and won a muthafuckin Super Bowl damnit!

Who knows, maybe he is going to sprain his wrist so that he can win the next muthafuckin Super Bowl on one leg, while throwing the whole game with his muthafuckin opposite hand!

At this point ANYTHING seems muthafuckin possible with this muthafuckah.

Sit back and enjoy the muthafuckin ride.

My next trip out to Colorado I will be wearing my Chiefs jersey again, just to salt the wounds a bit.

I’m with JFish here.
Houston’s defense can get to the QB.
Our tackles are a mess ( though Thuney is set to play LT again—maybe why we aren’t running as much bc our interior now is weaker ).

Mahomes could be a bullseye.
