Three months of shelter-in-place and there will be no sane people left, never mind an economy to support them. If that’s how it is going to be, go ahead and shoot me now.

Reading your link, I thought some of it sounded familiar, then I saw that among the endorsers is

Thomas Pueyo. 2 MSc in Engineering. Stanford MBA. Ex-Consultant. Creator of viral applications with >20M users. Currently leading a billion-dollar business @ Course Hero.

I read this earlier today by him, but considered it a little much to post here:

Coronavirus: The Hammer and the Dance. What the Next 18 Months Can Look Like, if Leaders Buy Us Time

You -- and by "you," I mean ALL of you -- should, on occasion, get out of your bubble.

For example, you could read this very short thread:

Pelosi's got some pet projects, you see. They need to be taken care of. Also, the small business provisions don't protect Planned Parenthood. Also...

Mnuchin and Trump are ignorant assholes. But only ignorant assholes honestly believe that they're the only ignorant assholes here.

Also, the small business provisions don't protect Planned Parenthood. Link?

Ali Velshi just stated that this is your basic Corporate bailout with very few protections for workers, few limitations on corporate stock buybacks, small amounts of cash for the poorest Americans. Seems that Pelosi and Dems were trying to get bailouts for hospitals into the legislation--I guess that's a "pet project" ?

She's right.

And should be Biden's running mate.

BTW, the futures market opens in less than 3.5 hours. Care to predict how fast it will limit down if there's no agreement before then?

Might have something to do with latest Morgan Stanley forecasts. Last Monday, 2nd quarter forecast was -4%.

New forecast: -30%.

Holy fuck.

Holy fuck.
Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President James Bullard said that the U.S. unemployment rate could reach 30 percent in the second quarter because of the coronavirus pandemic, Bloomberg News reported Sunday.

Bullard also said a 50 percent reduction in gross domestic product is possible in the second quarter given the shutdown of business throughout much of the country, which is only expected to increase.

Also: Placido Domingo and, more ominously, Harvey Weinstein -- which means that it's in Rikers.

Personally, the Glenn Hubbard/Michael Strain small business support plan is the only thing that could prevent most of this...

$1.2 trillion essentially replacing small business income for 3 months, mostly loans, which are FORGIVABLE on the condition of no layoffs.

Ah. Sorry I was unable to read your mind.

I thinking giving Mnuchin/Goldman any power is stupid.

Happy now?

New Rule:

Starting now, during his daily WH Coronavirus Task Force campaign events, Trump will no longer be allowed to whine about not being "thanked" for not taking his $450,000/year salary until we get to see his, his company's, his charity's, (lol), and his children's tax returns, to see just how much they are profiting from being America's Royal Family.

The most aggrieved president in history.

So benevolent of him to have offered us his services.

And now he won't assure us that he won't accept taxpayer $ for his companies.
