Yes, but if he is the candidate i believe there is a not insignificant number of voters who will sit the election out as well.

If the choices are Bernie vs Trump? Sheesh. Thats horrible options for the way 75% of the country thinks

I think the number of those is less than the number of people who would vote for Pete but stay home if it's Bernie.

My dream scenario right now is Pete announcing Klobuchar as his running mate. That ticket wins the primary and general.

James Carville is “scared to death” of the November 2020 election.

In a rant on MSNBC that went viral on Tuesday evening, the longtime Democratic strategist vented his concerns about the party’s prospects for beating Donald Trump, taking particular aim at the party’s leftward lurch.

“Eighteen percent of the population controls 52 Senate seats,” Carville said. “We’ve got to be a majoritarian party. The urban core is not gonna get it done. What we need is power! Do you understand? That’s what this is about.”

His diatribe took place against the backdrop of an Iowa caucus that had fallen into chaos and amid a rancorous ongoing debate among Democrats over the party’s direction. He took particular aim at Sen. Bernie Sanders, who he fears could lead the party to defeat in November.

...Carville’s lament distills a concern among the Democratic Party’s establishment: Will ideological purity and playing to the base cost the Democrats victory in November? For Carville, at least, “We have one moral imperative, and that’s to beat Donald Trump.”

...We have candidates on the debate stage talking about open borders and decriminalizing illegal immigration. They’re talking about doing away with nuclear energy and fracking. You’ve got Bernie Sanders talking about letting criminals and terrorists vote from jail cells. It doesn’t matter what you think about any of that, or if they are good arguments — talking about that is not how you win a national election. It’s not how you become a majoritarian party.

For fuck’s sake, we’ve got Trump at Davos talking about cutting Medicare and no one in the party has the sense to plaster a picture of him up there sucking up to the global elites, talking about cutting taxes for them while he’s talking about cutting Medicare back home. Jesus, this is so obvious and so easy and I don’t see any of the candidates taking advantage of it.

The Republicans have destroyed their party and turned it into a personality cult, but if anyone thinks they can’t win, they’re out of their damn minds.

Most of the people aren’t into all this distracting shit about open borders and letting prisoners vote. They don’t care. They have lives to lead. They have kids. They have parents that are sick. That’s what we have to talk about. That’s all we should talk about.

It’s not that this stuff doesn’t matter. And it’s not that we shouldn’t talk about race. We have to talk about race. It’s about how you deliver and frame the message. I thought Cory Booker’s “baby bonds” plan was great and the kind of thing the party could connect to people’s actual lives.

We have one moral imperative here, and that’s beating Trump. Nothing else matters.

Carville always was smart.

Unlike most of the pundits and TV personalities who represent some non-profit from their windowless offices in Washington, DC, and talk only to other people like themselves, Carville lives out their in the real world.

Even, !GASP! like those of us here, Carville attended a public university.

Let's see, are we missing any votes from Iowa? Seems not.

Did they all get counted? Yes.

Did it take longer than Wolf Blitzer, Rachel Maddow or Mike Wallace approved of because they want to be able to call it for viewers and brag about what market share their network had on Caucus Night? YES! YES! YES!

Were their ad buyers complaining because they paid full price for prime viewership and everyone went back to watching HGTV or Sports News or catching up on NCIS episodes and didn't see the ads? Most definitely YES.

So the votes got counted slower than Wolf, Rachel, Mike wanted and all the other pundits couldn't chatter about it for a few days and had to talk about Nancy Pelosi tearing up paper. So?

Pete doesn't really have much going for him. He's got the "I am gay" card, but he's not exciting enough. Still looking like Sanders vs. Trump, but I have no idea who would win between the two.

My problem with Pete is that he has little to no relevant experience. Two terms as mayor of South Bend doesn’t inspire much confidence.
