can’t make this shit up

Dont act so high and mighty. You have absolutey 0 idea how things would be had thwy gone the other way. None. Dont pretend you do.
Obviously this is true. But what has driven a lot of people away from Trump and politics in general is the lack of dignity he has brought to the office.

It's fair to say that any other candidate wouldn't have taken the country down this road.

I understand the dislike of trump. I do.

I dont like that it has caused people to feel like they are so superior for diskiking him.

And, we dont know how Hillarywould have led, or the decisions she would have made or the embarrasments she would or would not have had. I know a person (a generally very liberal person) who was around her quite a bit 6-8 years ago who had nothing good to say about her decisions, how she treated people, or her morals.

So, anyone notice that the trial to impeach our President starts early next week? Will any users here who live in a state with a Republican Senator have an issue if their senator votes to not allow witnesses for the trial? I am preparing to sit down and type up an email to my senators, Ben Sasse and Deb Fischer, this weekend.

Being in the Republican held state of Nebraska, I have zero delusions that they would vote for impeachment. That would be the instant end of their political careers in this state. But I expect them to uphold their oaths and conduct a true trial to at least allow the full account of what happened to be entered into record. The House tried but the White obstructed their efforts at every turn. The Senate now must also make an effort. Bolton has clearly stated that he will testify if served with a subpoena.

Allowing this to proceed with no additional witnesses called would be a stain on this nation's history. There is clearly additional relevant information to be heard from people in direct knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the charges. Ignoring that is to ignore the Constitution and the laws of our land out of fear-based blind loyalty.

You’re right. I’m not trying to pretend.

My “can’t make this shit up” comment was with regard to all the Mericans who refuse to even pay attention to the allegations against the incumbent potus, yet put so much of their attention to melting down - still! - about the candidate who lost.

Sorry, I didn't realize that in your world being appalled when I learned what Clinton did ~ 20 years ago excluded me from being appalled at Trump's behavior, but I do now.

Because

Settle down.

I lulz'ed at Chikn's statement that Trump "brought" indignity to the presidency. And I merely pointed out that that particular ship sailed a long time ago. Don't get me started on Kennedy and Johnson...

None of that means that Trump doesn't deserve what he is getting. Each incident has to be treated discretely, obviously.

But the idea that the office was somehow dignified before Trump is just...well...ignorant.

I mean, why are you accusing me of having 0 idea how Dowdy woulda went when I’m not among those talking about how Dowdy woulda went?

Why not take that discussion to those who won’t shut up about how bad she woulda been? You think they have any idea?

Dowdy woulda been corrupt. 30 years of precedent tell us that. But that doesn't mean that Trump gets a pass. Lesser of two evils is still an evil. Or something like that.
