I like things Bobby does.
He's a better defender and distributor than Yes.
He can finish better at the basket.

Yes has the best speed on our team and can create his own shot ( though he sure does miss that shot a lot ).

I prefer a good version of Bobby over a good version of Yes just because I don't like volume shooters who think that scoring sub 40% is preferable to finding a better shot.
Also keep in mind, Yes has an extra year under his belt.

But right now we already have a better version of Bobby in Dejuan.
We don't have anything like Yesufu, even though on a lot of Self teams, because we had points who could distribute, attack and shoot, he would be buried on the bench.

Here's the thing. I think KM and Jalen can do enough ball handling when Dajuan needs to sit. Which is about 4-9 minutes per game. Bobby doesn't do enough to warrant him playing in that role. You get your most explosive players who can do some things you can't coach out there and Yes does that. He rebounds fairly well for his size. And yes, while his A/TO ratio is putrid, we don't need him to be a PG with a 2/1 ratio, we just need him to be a pest on defense (Which he is) and make some shots and be aggressive (Which he was last night)

Yes knew his leash was VERY LONG last night, Bill knew it too and it worked out in KUs favor.

how about yesufu strings together multiple good games.
how about pettiford strings together multiple good games.

i ain't pinning a rose on either of them until they put together multiple good games.

Would it be a stretch to say that all of Dajuan, Yesufu, and Gradey had their best games of the season last night?

Looking beyond stat lines here. I would say definitely on Yes and probably on Dajuan and Gradey.

I think that’s fair

Gradey v Indiana.
20 points, 8-12 shooting, 4-5 3FG, 6 rebounds, 5 steals.

It was Dejuan's best game.

Can't just look at stats though. Because statistically, you're right, Gradey was better against Indiana. But I think you have to take into account current form, stakes of the game and more. Considering Jalen scored double digits against Indiana and had 2 last night. I think Gradey more than stepped up in his absence to help them win last night.

Indiana was ranked 18th, 16th in Kenpom, so it wasn't as if they were some pushover team.
He shot better, had more rebounds and had 5, count em, 5 steals.
I think that was Gradey's best game at KU so far.

The toughness by Gradey last night was something we hadn't seen all season.

Then for him to not pick up his 2nd foul until like 3 minutes left in the game while leading the team in minutes, that's pretty much a miracle.

He was fantastic.
Toughness is kind of a subjective term.
He attacked the basket well. Probably his most important impact so far.

But he also got human torched by the Texas guards.

Gradey’s last two fouls were meh.

The second was a dood creating the contact driving into Gradey’s chest with his hands up.

The third was grazing the dood with his hand while Bilas hyped it as “arm bar to the back”

Non-con in December game compared to a game against a 1st place team in conference who had a 2 game lead before the night began and when KU was 2-4 in the 6 games before that game. I'd argue the game last night was MUCH bigger than a 20 point win against Indiana.

The question was whether Gradey had his best game of the season.
If Gradey had a 50 point opening night with 12 three pointers that would be his best game.
Most important game is a different story.

Again, I value importance of game into best game. Can't just look at the stats output of it all.

You can, it's just a different way of determining it.

Regardless of how you rank the individual performances last night, I think that was the best TEAM win of the season because JW struggled.

I was really high on yesefus potential when we first got him, but you guys over estimate him being "my boy" at this point. He hasn't excelled at ku the way id hoped he would with his scoring mentality and physical tools. Hopefully he can keep his momentum going and not get his confidence down ever again

My dislike of pettiford has nothing to do with yesefu. I just don't think he has the talent to do much at ku. If he got a jump shot that could change. But there isn't a single guard that small in out entire conference that can't shoot, except for Bobby.

If you are an undersized guard.. you absolutely have to be able to shoot it. And shoot it at a high level. All Bobby strengths are offset by his inability to shoot
