Why are you even bringing Hunter up?
Because it's only natural to assume that the cocaine found in the White House belongs to the recovering coke addict who (more or less) lives there right now.
Just because it's highly unlikely to be his doesn't mean that it's especially out of line to wonder if it is.
And I suspect you know that.
This is an enormously silly* (not to mention bad-faith) conclusion to jump to. Especially for someone who should know better, about the effect on some that amplifying silly bad-faith conclusions has.
And you know that.
* I trust I need not explain that someone with Hunter’s track record - let alone profile - is not the sort who would get caught in this way.

Yes, why would anyone assume in a place with limited access and the highest security around, that the "recovering" coke addict would be the one with coke there......
Holy shit jfish

Looks like there are those who in fact needed explanation.

As I said, I think you know better. It is hardly "silly." It is perfectly understandable in our typically superficial news environment. As I said, it's exceptionally unlikely and inarguably based on zero evidence, but none of that counters our natural desire for salaciousness in our "news."
* I trust I need not explain that addicts sometimes do amazingly stupid things -- like get strippers pregnant, for example.

I'm just happy to know that Hunter is the only visitor to the Whitehouse in the last couple of weeks. We can blame it on him!

Why would the Whitehouse keep changing their story if they weren't trying to hide something

Mileage varies, I guess. I think it’s extremely irresponsible for a smart person to, with only
incredibly tenuous circumstantial evidence, amplify conspiracy theories that have clearly infected people you know will read what you’re amplifying.
And of course that’s why you’re seeing pre-buttals of the “but Don Jr” angle. People irresponsibly making a Hunter connection here KNOW that what they’re doing is silly and wrong, and they’re already battening down the hatches.

It’s got to be terrifying to live in a world where everything that isn’t black and white is evidence of conspiracy.

Wasn't it the Secret Service and not "the White House" that "changed" the story.
Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany threw cold water on the suggestion the cocaine found at The White House over the holiday weekend could have belonged to Hunter Biden, the president’s son.
“For it to be Hunter Biden, he left on Friday, he was at Camp David. There is no way, it is inconceivable to think cocaine could sit for a 72-hour period [at The White House], so I would rule him out at this point.” McEnany, who is a Fox News host, said Thursday on the network’s flagship morning talk program...

I would think that those who consider there to be enough evidence to throw Hunter’s name in the ring (based on his personal history) would not be opposed to looking into all of the details.

This actually helps to make a solid point: A big part of the White House's problem is that a former (and ideologically hostile) press secretary has done a far better job of addressing the issue than the current press secretary.

if they found a pile of empty pizza boxes at the Calhoun residence. it would be reasonable to wonder if they belonged to Haystack.

The jumps here would have scared Evel Knievel in his prime.
In any case - Don Jr. has himself provided ample evidence of his use of
something during (and since) his father's presidency. I do not recall much scandalmongering over it, whether from the left or otherwise?
Hunter has an actual criminal record related to certain substances, IIRC.
Why are you even bringing Hunter up? Why did you even bring Don Jr. up (if not as an excuse to bring Hunter up)?
Because Hunter is the obvious suspect when nose candy shows up in the White House these days, yet the POTUS who earned his spurs pushing through automatic prison time for crack possession during his time in the Senate, just laughs it off.
