If you weren't fishing you wouldn't follow me around thread to thread commenting.

You can press the ignore button. You choose not to. Because you're a fisherman.

Oh, I see the difference. The difference is you don't like it being said about people you care about, but don't mind it as long as it's someone you don't care about even though plenty of other people likely do.

Sorry, I'll put more effort into next week's response.
Just seems like a classless thing to say in a snarky way every single time this happens. Some people say that in a genuine way and truly mean it. Just because you're not religious doesn't mean you need to mock them for it (in my opinion). People died. I think it's tatseless to use their deaths for snarky politcal gotcha laughs on a messageboard.
Hilarious on the heels of you doing the exact same thing. But I am sure you truly meant it in your case and it wasn't just to score a snarky personal gotcha laugh on a message board...

across the country, it seems
It's just sad how easy it can be to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, how easy it is for these people to arm themselves to the teeth to kill as many people as possible and how celebrated it has become in their own psychotic community. These people aren't just thinking this shit up in their basements. They have communities online where they discuss and share their thoughts and ideas.

The pure volume of hatred in this nation is overwhelming.

I have a kid the same age as our white terrorist of the hour. I very distinctly remember those parental protective instincts that kicked in when I had a toddler. I must have read or heard it somewhere , "we close the windows and lock the doors, but that is not the only way the swindlers* can get in the house." (* akin to 'bad guys' or boogeyman, evil or whatever term your family would find appropriate). These days (as opposed to the 1970s when I grew up with 3 broadcast TV stations that were all covered by the Fairness Doctrine), the swindlers can get to and harm my family through the screens and airwaves 24/7/365. Yes, parenting is hard. Yes, all the other parents let their kids do whatever they damn well please and hand the kids phones before they can walk. If you are not setting boundaries on your children's media usage, do not bother locking the front door, and do not feign innocence when they get depressed, bullied, or brainwashed. It takes one afternoon for that un-developed brain to go from steady and appropriate to an exposed impulsive killer.

I said mine for the sole purpose of being rude to Trad because he had just done it in a different thread. I think it is rude and classless to do that here every single time someone does this just because people "on the other side" who are religious say that.

I will never give any thoughts or prayers to Trad. For one, I don't pray. And secondly, I don't like him.

(If we are being honest here)

From mean girls to deranged boys to perverted men and everything in between, it just feels like kids are more vulnerable than ever to being swayed to do something they may have never seriously considered before. Glad I am not growing up in today's America.

And I said mine for the sole purpose of being rude to the brainless GOP politicians and voters who send their thoughts and prayers after every killing and then turn around and continue to make it easier and easier for this to happen. So spare me your faux outrage you sanctimonious prick.

it’s obviously more important that he fails (again) at keeping posters in check

https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/16/tech/4ch ... index.html

A 180-page document that has been attributed to the man suspected of the shooting, in which 10 people were killed, references how he was influenced by what he saw on 4chan, including how he was inspired by watching a video of the 2019 mass shootings in Christchurch, New Zealand -- which were also streamed live.

Ben Decker, the CEO of Memetica, a threat analysis company, told CNN, "this is a step-by-step copycat attack of Christchurch, in both the real-world attack; planning and selecting the target, and online; coordinating the livestream and manifesto dissemination across fringe message boards."

I still do not understand how 4chan and 8shan have avoided public scrutiny and political targeting for so many years. They are the place to go if you want to learn about how to better commit all forms of depravity.

also, at what point are people actually going to say or do something when warning signs seem so obvious?

improving funding for mental health treatment won’t do shit if those who get identifying as “risks” aren’t monitored

Dedicate an officer to follow them 24/7? How do you "monitor" each crazy person / terrorist (foreign or domestic)?

Required periodic mental health checks. Red flags on gun purchases. Not complicated. What is complicated is determining the criteria that needs to be met to be treated this way. Frankly, it is something that would never pass.

The cost of having freedoms seems to be that crazy fuckers are free to roam amongst us and kill us at random. As citizens they have as many legal rights to buy a gun and kill us while we shop for groceries as we do.

% of guns that are/were obtained illegally in the USA?
I would guesstimate it's at least 20%.
Put more "regulations" on gun ownership and while I would have zero problem with that, I realize people are still going to find a way to obtain them - legally and illegally.

I saw another comment like “the same people who fuss about ‘but if we make guns illegal then folks will just get guns illegally,’ then look you dead in the eye and insist on banning abortion”
