Well, because we didn't give a single, solitary fuck about - in fact, we were from the top down aggressively against - comprehensive testing, entire regions of our country locked down needlessly in March/April.

So, naturally, those regions were both unappreciative of the threat that's now coming to bear, and also incredibly resistant to locking down again.
Fish’s explanation here is the best synopsis of Trump’s greatest failure in 2020 you will ever see.

Didn't know what thread to post this on but it seems Ben Carson might not have survived Covid if not for his current position. Nice he acknowledges it. He was in really bad shape but he had the White House "medical team" and the Docs at Walter Reed who treated him. Good for him.
99% of Americans probably don't get that quality of medical care.

Sounds like the Trump administration has the right plan for Covid-19 after watching the news conference. Vaccine roll out and distribution next month, and Donald Trump had nothing to do with it.

I admit my ignorance. Can/will you please elaborate on what the current administration did that was good? I'll give them all the credit in the world if it's deserved. Please let me know if it truly is.
Meanwhile, I will always say if they weren't so fucking incompetent and nonchalant about the virus at the beginning - perhaps people I knew wouldn't be dead today. Shame the vaccine will do them no good.

What are the long term (or short term) side effects of the vaccine?

What are the long term effects of covid (assuming you survive)?

So much unknown. Its a bad deal all around.

It is gross to see Trump claim credit for the vaccines, when all he did is what he should have done with the whole thing: give the smart people the financial backing of the federal government and get the fuck out of their way.

The researchers, doctors, nurses, pharmacists and subjects should be applauded. Trump should applaud them.

That is roughly 1 in 6 Americans. I doubt it.
