seems hydrogen fuel cells are going to rear their head again
toyota/bmw, honda/hyundai, and land rover all planning models for the coming years
Your thoughts? I am starting to be intrigued by alternative fuel vehicles. I don't drive much as it is.

and yet our government continues to subsidize the fossil fuel industry to the tune of about $20 billion/year while the companies that comprise that industry get fat on profits
And donate those profits to KU Athletics--conundrum.

Thoughts are that until corporations snd governments change their carbon footprint in real ways.... we can all ride witches broomsticks and it wont make a damn bit of difference.
Its not the average citizen that has made this mess.

I'd be in it for the tax credits and two decades of saved fuel costs.

Sure, and thats fair. But if were looking to solve the larger problem, guilt trippin the public is the wrong approach in my mind

i think it’s great
i’ve mentioned this before...electric cars have their own inherent problems with the disposal/recycling of the batteries. they can’t be the ultimate solution

I am seeing that a 2021 Hyundai NEXO is $60,000 sticker. I'd want to hold onto that for a long time.

Not to mention, a lot depends on how electricity is generated where you live/charge.

I think that for most first-worlders to have real impact on Mother Earth, just consuming much less would help the most, almost regardless of what the stuff requires for fuel or production...

hard not to wonder where we could be if that $20b/year was invested in transit R&D

Yea.
We have a real consumption problem. We need to think less consumption and more conservation.
Fun fact: a century ago “conservation” as we know it now wasn’t even a thing, and any use of the term was in reference to “conserving” all available resources for human consumption.
Oh there’s water in that river? Better use it up til it’s drained dry!

I didn’t leave North America until I was in my mid 20s. I was caught WAY off-guard with there being so little plastic (comparatively) in Europe. Glass everything. No straws. And so on.

Fair enuf, but our faces wouldn't be so red if we hadn't, for years, sent our plastic refuse there, nominally for "recycling"
