NCAA Basketball 2018/2019
Re: NCAA Basketball 2018/2019
Why does anyone care about rooting for or against Scott Drew?
He's a non-entity. And so, for that matter, are his Bears.

Damn, it's like someone accused you of using "we" while rooting for those teams.
At what point are the games important? Can games retroactively be labeled as important? Let's say the records when they meet in Lubbock are TT 13-1 and KU 11-3. You're not going to look back and say it sure would have been nice if Oklahoma didn't blow a 7 point second half lead against Tech? The fact you think a January 8th game has less of an impact on a regular season title as a February 27th is exactly what pdub said it was. Dumb.
There's a difference between hoping OU wins a game and flying a flag in you yard while yelling Boomer Sooner every day.

Re: NCAA Basketball 2018/2019
If we get to TT and we are 2 games back I won't say "damn I wish TT would have lost to OU", I will say "damn I wish KU (we?) wouldn't have lost 3 games to teams we should have beaten".
This isn't that important. It's a personal choice. I choose not to root for Scott Drew. Or other teams. Unless absolutely needed. And we can't possibly know what's needed yet..
What if we get to late February and OU is in 1st....then "we" should be glad they didn't beat TT.

Fair enough, but the question still wasn't answered, lol. When are games important? When is it absolutely needed? I agree it's not panic time. I'm just saying it would be nice to get that "1 GB" in the standings erased. And the quicker that happens, the better.

Re: NCAA Basketball 2018/2019
Also, Scott Drew is a very interesting person to have the hatred required to NEVER, EVER root for. Where did he touch you to give you these feelings? He's never won anything. He's in the bottom half of the Big 12 as much as he's in the top half. He's essentially a non-threat to anything KU related. He's a clown that everyone laughs at, but not usually hate.
Re: NCAA Basketball 2018/2019
If KU was the 1 seed and got to play the 16, 9, 13, 15, 16 to win a title, that'd be fantastic.
If every single team won at home and lost away in the Big 12 except us, that'd be fantastic.
ISU is more a contender in the Big 12 than Baylor hence Baylor winning is better for our chances.
I don't care if we go 17-1 in the Big 12, Iowa State loosing betters our chances at this moment in time.

It's weird how only one person doesn't understand how this works though. Not until it's absolutely needed.pdub wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 10:45 am If KU was the 1 seed and got to play the 16, 9, 13, 15, 16 to win a title, that'd be fantastic.

Re: NCAA Basketball 2018/2019
in 2012-13, ksu began league play ranked in the top 25.
late january they were ranked 11th.
they lost to Kansas and then promptly lost a close one, on the road, to Iowa State.
it was good they lost to Iowa State as they were 4-1 conference.
i know that futures are changed by results but had they not lost @ Iowa State, if results had held, they would have won the league outright instead of sharing it and getting swept that season 3 times by KU.

The "crap" was because you invited 2 pages of Illy arguing his "point"NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 8:21 amNo big deal. That game was in January. Didn't matter.jeepinjayhawk wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 10:48 pmCrap....NDballer13 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 08, 2019 8:22 pm
If TT is the only threat, would you agree that you would rather see Oklahoma win tonight? Or does it still not make a difference to you because it's January?

I understand how "standings" work.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 10:50 amIt's weird how only one person doesn't understand how this works though. I also understand Janary 8th standings are about as important as halftime scores.
And again, it's a just a personal choice to dislike Scott Drew or cheer for whoever you want. I choose to only cheer for Kansas or Kansas affiliates (like Danny @ Wake) in early January.
Cheer for whoever you want....but "go baylor" on a KU message board (from twocoach) deserves a smart ass response....but probably not 3 pages of "crap" (#planovoice)

Re: NCAA Basketball 2018/2019
Well, except nobody is really arguing. But minor details.
Re: NCAA Basketball 2018/2019
Lets just say this
Projected results indicate that baylor is a bottom half team and uowa st is a top half team. Agree?
Anytime a bottom half team beats a top half team it benefits Kansas' chances of winning the league. Agree?
Therefore, (transistive property) baylor beating iowa st is good for Kansas based on projected league results. Agree?
In conclusion, it is acceptable and encouraged for a kansas fan to cheer for baylor in this instance, given todays assumptions regarding the league. Agree?
Ok. I think that closes the loop.

I love how you have both "cheer for whoever you want" and twocoach cheering for Baylor deserves a smart ass response in the SAME SENTENCE.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 11:15 amI understand how "standings" work.NDballer13 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 09, 2019 10:50 amIt's weird how only one person doesn't understand how this works though. I choose to watch other Big 12 games and I choose to cheer for whichever team who I feel helps KUs drive to the Big 12 title more (in my opinion). It seems that many other people here also view non-KU games in a similar manner.
So I hope you understand why your decision to vall me out for has resulted in all this. It's because it was dumb and hypocritical (cheer for whoever, remember?) .

Holy fuck. You went back a week to try to restart this argument by repeating what you've already said?
Slow day at work?
No new trump tweets to meltdown about?
We don't need to do this AGAIN.
LOL!!!

So, I think the best looking team in the country so far has been Virginia. Which is pretty great news for the rest of those teams, like us, that are grouped together right below UVA. Wide open tournament.
