Yep. Looking more and more like we the dodged the Ianello bullet.
He's really bad.

Think I saw a rumor that Onatolu will be staff and Drake stays in his current spot for D-Line.

Yeah have seen the same. Onatolu will be an analyst and Drake will be the DL coach.

Marcus Harris in portal too. That's a massive loss for the defense. Both him and Terry were going to be studs.
Cost of doing business, I guess.

That one hurts. So does Terry. Agbaw was never going to play here, so that one doesn't sting.
So far, the player attrition overall hasn't been too harmful. Thinking we can live with about 5. Need to start plugging the leaks, though.

I think anything under 10, and you're fine. Plug some grad transfers in there and let them go. As long as most of the young nucleus is still there, you'll be fine.
Prunty, Bryant and Mayberry all need to stick here though. They're cornerstones for this defense for the next 3- 4 years.

Yeah, pretty good point about transfers in. Seems they all need to be OL or DL, imagine that.

Not trying to hype up anything but that's an outstanding staff. Kept your best assistants/recruiters/relator to players from previous year. And you brought the best of what Leipold wants to continue in Lawrence.
First game 3 1/2 months away. Let's go!

I am trying very hard not to get my hopes up because this season and probably the next are still going to be ugly. Although I'll gladly be right here to admit if I'm wrong on that. But every move and decision since Jeff Long left has just felt like the right one. From hiring Darrell Stuckey to Goff as AD and Leipold as HC, those all seem like the smart, well-reasoned, best options. The vibe is just different with Miles and Long out of here. Time will tell if it pays off but so far, it feels like we're taking all the right steps.

Good news. Hope they can now work on keeping existing players and getting a few players to fill the holes.

Oh they're going to be bad quite a bit, but they'll be competitive as shit and they will be prepared. Probably looking at 5 wins over next 2 years, but it was never about 2020, 2021, or even 2022. It is all about hitting your stride in 2023.

I can live with not winning very many games over the next couple years. What I can't handle is every one of those losses continuing to be by 30+ points. Are we still going to get blown out like that on occasion? For sure. But as long as it's not the same beatdown week in and week out, we can see the team becoming competitive, and maybe pulling off an upset each year, that will be just fine.

As Mellinger said, it is in KU's best interest (and everyone else's) to not say/hear one damn thing about the win total until at least 2023.
We have to stop making the same mistakes over and over.

I give it a year-and-a-half before people start crying about wins & losses again.

If we're not winning games in year two something's wrong.
The cupboard (supposedly) isn't empty.
With transfer rules, we can bring guys in right away.
Year two, you have no more excuses about a new system.
Leipold is supposed to be able to win even without having the best talent.
I'm not expecting 6 wins in year two. But 2-10 or worse and you're damn right I'll be pissed about it.

1st yr just be competitive. Line up right. Don’t commit dumb penalties. Be a physical, disciplined team. The schedule isn’t in favor for many actual wins.
2nd yr, if they can find or develop a QB I would like to see wins on field.

A well coached team competes. Just saw a video of a Les Mikes LSU team spiking a throw instead of kicking a game winning FG. He was brain dead a long time before coming here.
