Super predictable loss. This is a veteran team and they seem to not be super interested every single night. I am confident we will have energy for March/April. We just need to get there healthy. That matters a hell of a lot more than the difference between 4 losses or 5 losses (or whatever we end up having) going into the tournament.
I still think we are going to be a #1 seed...don't you guys?

ucf seems to have a pretty stellar defense. i’m not sure i’d call them BS
They're 10-4 with a win over the 3rd ranked team.
They're going to be ranked on Monday if they beat BYU Saturday.
They are not a BS team.

I think UCF is a NCAA bubble team...maybe gets an 11 seed?
I don't really consider that BS but it sure is a team that we need to beat if we want to be taken seriously.

Their best wins prior to last night were Quad 3 wins over South Dakota State, Lipscomb and Charlotte. Bubble team K-State, currently projected to be an NIT team, destroyed them by 25. I'll be stunned if UCF wins more than 6 BIg 12 games.

trying to spin last night into anything other than a bad loss. is silly.

I agree with him on this one. That was a bad loss to a team that is nowhere close to being an NCAA tourney team.

I disagree with you.
I think they'll float around the bubble and ultimately land in the NIT.
It's not a good team but it sure isn't tHe WorST lOSs sINce TcU.
UCF is a top 80 team in Kenpom and a top 70 team in TRank.
We were favored by 7.
In contrast, TCU was ranked 282nd in Kenpom and 256th in TRank.
KU was favored by 18.5.
It's a bad loss ( @ UCF ) no doubt at all but it's not comparable.

They probably won't (win 6 big12 games). But they're not a BS team. Like I said, if they win Saturday they will probably be ranked come Monday.

I agree. Definitely a "bad loss" by KU standards....But a predictable one. That's why we were only 7pt favorites.

I think that line says more about KU than UCF.

Here is a much worse loss than last nights.
https://www.espn.co.uk/mens-college-bas ... /400988249
Ranked 2, playing less than an hour away from AFH, loosing by 14 with 55 seconds left.
The game was never in doubt.
Maybe more worse than that. Ranked 3 and absolutely blown out.

Errr...I agree...but then if that's the case, why is such a bad loss if we actually aren't as good as the rankings show?

We'll see if UCF can win 20 games and make the NIT like that Washington team.
That OSU loss was brutal. A terrible team that we beat 94-67 in AFH. Woof, from a 19 point loss to a 27 point win.

UCF wouldn't need to win 20 games to be better than that Washington team.
The B12 is brutal.
If UCF gets 17 wins they'll be a bubble team.
If they get 16 wins they'll be in the NIT.
Again, that Washington game was in Sprint Center ( which sucks but is kind of a home game ).
We were favored by 22.
It was absolutely a worse loss than last night.

All that said, you might put this in the top 15 worst losses under Bill Self at Kansas.
Possibly top 10? It could be in that range...but my guess is just out of it.
I'm not talking brutal heart breaking losses ( though they can be included ) but losses to teams you definitely had no business loosing to.
Oral Roberts at AFH. ksu at AFH. Bucknell.

Insane to think about. We don't have many bad losses the last 20 years.

We've been blown out by worse teams than us but they usually are teams that safely made the NCAA tourney.
We very very rarely loose to teams that aren't in the top 60 in Kenpom.
I think you also just need to factor this in -- it really was UCF's biggest game in over a decade.
Their 2nd sellout in I think they said 17 years.
Their first home B12 game.
There is an energy that goes along with that -- and we let that build once we couldn't do anything v the zone.

It doesn't make me feel any better if it was "only" our tenth worst loss in the last 20 seasons. KU fucking sucked last night. Back to back games of 18 turnovers is completely ridiculous. On to Saturday. Hopefully they can get right vs OU, who also lost on the road last night at TCU.

The big 12 is good. Again.
I guess I just don't get worked up to the point of "KU fucking sucked" over losses in January by a veteran team that is mostly concerned with winning a national title.
We are playing 4 guys 32+ minutes every single night. They aren't going to be juiced for every single game. I can live with that with a veteran team like this.
It's national title or bust, so let's get everyone to the tournament healthy and see if we can steal a title with a team that isn't our most talented by KU standards.
