he was fucking terrible in Denver. The broncos ate a chunk to get rid of him.
HOLY CRAP! My post was a bunch of scrambled egg brain garbage. That's what happens when I go on and on and on and on when I am rushing to post something.
"Last stop"..... Of course, he was in Seattle, then Denver, now Pittsburgh. That was really dumb of me!
I don't feel he was "fucking terrible" in Denver last season. Do I think Pittsburgh should have overpaid to get him to be their starting QB? No.
Dude overpaid???? Pittsburgh got both those QB's for nada.
ANOTHER WTF! Stupid post by me! I had gone to Google and typed - Russ Wilson salary. This was what popped up.

67% completion. 26 TD to 8 INT. It’s a flawed stat but he was 8th in passer rating.
ill ask this way then.
If your team was trotting out Russell Wilson this year would you be excited?

Cool. The answer would be name one QB who has started for the Steelers who would excite you more than SB winner Wilson since Big Ben retired?

Yes well that was Denver's deal. Include the draft picks to get him and that dead cap value.
My question to you is .....which deal was worse Denver's or Clevelands for Watson??

This version of Fields has been just fine. I dont love either of them, but why switch horses midstream?

Gee, I was just on the politics bored focusing on the two terrible candidates and now I read your question. I don't know how to answer that. Maybe equally bad?
What's your opinion?

That's a good question and one I have to think Tomlin couldn't answer so easily if he shared everything that has gone on in his head this past week. To his credit, I feel Fields has handled it really well from a team player attitude and as public relations/media reaction to the "benching". If I were to give it too much thought and wanted to be critical, I might fault Fields for not being pissed off behind the scenes - if he isn't pissed off.

It's a really weird situation. But we knew that going into the season when they got both of them, which made no sense to me.

I think the Watson trade.
Browns get:
QB Deshaun Watson
2024 sixth-round pick (used in the Jerry Jeudy trade)
Texans get:
2022 first-round pick (OG Kenyon Green)
2022 fourth-round pick (RB Dameon Pierce)
2023 first-round pick (DE Will Anderson Jr.)
2023 third-round pick (WR Tank Dell)
2024 first-round pick (CB Kamari Lassiter and LB Jamal Hill)
2024 fourth-round pick (S Calen Bullock)
The thing is the albatross of the deal is they reworked Watson's contract and game him a unprecedented fully guaranteed five-year $230 million contract. Now since then they have reworked the contract to gather cap space and are painted into the corner with a QB that is less than average.
Watson has the NFL's second-largest 2025 salary cap number at $72.935 million. Cleveland's 2025 cap charges for Watson would increase by $99.835 million by releasing him conventionally. The Browns would have a whopping $172.77 million of dead money if they did walk away.

No.
But I think there's a difference between being excited and saying, well, I have a good defense and this guy is serviceable.
I think his ceiling is higher than a number of starting QB's in the league right now.
Would I rather take a chance with Russell Wilson over these guys:
Daniel Jones, Derek Carr, Deshaun Watson, Will Levis, Bryce Young/Andy Dalton, Gardner Minshew/Adian O'Connell and Justin Fields? Yes.
Could he be better than Trevor Lawrence, Anthony Richardson, Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers and Bo Nix?
Yes.

Russ looked pretty good against a good defense.
Davante Adams makes no difference.

Yeah, all is well that ends well - last night.
During the 1st quarter Russ was this/close to getting booed off the field and benched. He was terrible. Then.... He was good. At times really good.
6 degrees of Gutter - I like Russ Wilson but.... I had a personal experience with him that made me loose a shitload of respect for the man. Had to do with him being the commencement speaker at Wisconsin in 2016.

Learned something very interesting this morning. A "succession" plan is in place, and the current plan is in the very near future someone surprising is going to start to be groomed to be the next Commissioner of the NFL. I'll give you a hint who it is. It's an African American Woman and it is not Condoleezza Rice.
