If he gets it, then you're making the point wrong.
I don't think you realize you're doing it, right now but you (among others) seem to be discounting sources not based on some objective credibility of the information provided by the source, but based on some rather (and rather obliviously) biased subjective opinion - and, surprise! - largely along some partisan lines too.

It's just so damn meta for this thread.

now BRB lemme go get some popcorn!
What specific source am I discounting right now?

"if he gets it, then you're making the point wrong."

guess it just kinda felt ad hominem or something.

jfish provides reliable ( yes go look up the source - FRED ) data points.
JK talks about how he feels.
MICH says it's all subjective anyways.
pdub says that is damaging to our society.
ous says but both sides do it.

Last season, KU basketball finished 23-11, a 4 seed and 19th in the AP and 27th in Kenpom.

It felt like they were worse than that, like an 8 seed, and barely top 50, and whatever no one cares about those other data points they're useless. It's mostly about my eyetest.

He's right, it's all subjective.

But like, in this specific case, KU was 23-11, a 4 seed and finished 19th in the AP and 27th in Kenpom. So that in particular is not subjective and things like it should not be.

Hey! Both sides!

Just curious Twocoach, but what is “DONATE NOW” at the top of your post mean? Is it some sort of subliminal message to donate to Pdub’s fund for this site??

Ok, sure.

But the personal dig was still just dumb.

I mean if you REALLY wanna stick it to me in this thread, you should rub my face in some example of me gullibly falling for misinformation, like that time you seemed to believe Democrats provide us universal healthcare just cuz they dropped it as a hollow talking point on their website.

"Wages outgrew inflation and net worth far outgrew it. CBO reported every household decile had more purchasing power in 2023 than 2019."

This part is not a hot take.
It references the data points.
The data is from a reliable source.

A good thought exercise to get you started might be to consider why bookmakers set (and later move) the spreads where they do.
ok?

thanks for the suggestion, I guess.

All I know is, this "almost like a corporate media that knowingly hyperinflates false crises" sorta post in none other than the Misinformation thread itself is...yea
Where exactly should a discussion about "a corporate media that knowingly hyperinflates false crises," and the consequences of doing that, go, if not in the Misinformation thread?

see, this is where it's been very intriguing all along.

if there IS some "corporate media that knowingly hyperinflates false crises" sort of elaborate misinformation campaign, let's flesh it out! I wanna know all about it!

But, despite repeatedly asking, the best explanation we got is some cryptic "bookmakers move the spread" sorts of CoyDC lulz.

What explanation are you looking for? I'm afraid, from the language in this post (intriguing; elaborate; campaign), that you're hoping for someone to advance some sort of conspiracy theory. Something that opens up the next set of conjuring words (cabal; elites; drinking children's blood).

That's not what I or anyone else is getting at.

It just comes back to this I guess.

why would corporate media knowingly hyperinflate false crises?

What's the motive?
It's, ah, right there in your post.

PDub didn't like that I said complaining about the new ads on the floor of Allen Fieldhouse was silly and that I barely noticed them so he added a giant banner at the top of my page plus that over my avatar on every post I post.

I assume he wont take it down until I complain about it because he has some witty zinger of a comeback like "it's annoying, isn't it?" so I guess it will just sit there as a beacon of his pettiness.

You don't believe that the Democrats want all Americans to have access to affordable Healthcare? Isn't that what the Affordable Care Act/Obamacare is working towards?

Maybe I just don't read the right sources and I missed something.
