His best minutes probably came as a freshman, just simply because he was checking in and hitting shots. Still playing with confidence
Who knows. I certainly didn't think guys like Lightfoot, McCormack and Lucas would end up being as good as they were. Who knows, maybe he gets his nutrition dialed in, gets some functional muscle mass on his ass and figures some things out. I certainly hope it happens and then some. Whatever gets KU more wins. Go Clemence!
McCormack was a McDonald's AA
Who spent his first two seasons generating more WTF moments than any player I can recall in recent KU history. I am not saying he had no expectations, he certainly did. But A) I recognize that there is a lot of politics that goes into MCD's AA status and B) what players do in college affects my expectations of them far more than their HS accomplishments. After his first 2-3 seasons, he didn't appear to be on track to be THE GUY who hit the title sealing shots so to see him reach that level his senior season was a pleasant surprise that I did not expect.

Me either. I felt like any team that was relying on McCormack as their post player was admitting it didn't have what it takes.

It's not dumb. You can only work with what you've seen. It's hard to speculate how "it's your last season" affects each player.

Analytics, in general, suggests that we can (and will) work with what should be seen, not what has been seen.

DMac's Crimscore in his last 2 years at KU was a combined .505.
Braun's last 2 seasons ( though Braun was a sophomore and junior ) a .507.
DMac wasn't nearly as bad as people made him out to be.

This.
It's this thing we do with multiple year players nowadays.
DMac, Dajuan, Perry, the list goes on.

And that's playing on a bad foot too. Dmac alltime overhated and underrated
