Leaf peeping not quite there yet even up there.
Need to wait another 10 days or so.

Gotcha.
Getting gold quick here.
It’s mostly aspens that get mostly gold, tho random accents of red and orange.
Pretty sure you got more hardwood forests that get more colorful

The lull between Labor Day and the last week in September is when I most recommend people to come visit Maine because it's post summer tourism and pre leaf peeping tourism.
Then, by late October, it's just us local yokels until Memorial Day.

How Climate Change is Making Fall Foliage Less Colorful
Next Saturday, the autumn equinox will mark the beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere. For some, though, the real start of fall is when the leaves change color. But scientists say climate change is affecting both the timing and intensity of fall foliage. John Yang speaks with Bill Keeton, a professor of forest ecology at the University of Vermont, to learn more.

If the clouds move out, we should see the Northern Lights tonight.

Been meaning to ask, did the clouds move out?
I've never seen the Northern Lights.

Nope too cloudy. I think the city lights may have interfered too.

Really? Wow.
I thought everyone knew they don't lay eggs in human food, but instead parasitize earthworms; the females lay their eggs near earthworm burrows, and the larvae then feed on the worms.

I wasn't aware I'd made a Phish reference, and didn't know what cluster flies were until you mentioned them, and looked it up...

this thread finally getting good.
fun fact: that Phish tune "Farmhouse" is based on the same chord changes as Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry"
and is it just me or does this sound like it could be Phish lyrics too:

several predictions (including farmers almanac, say what you want but the damn thing is pretty accurate most if the time) call for a colder, snowier winter in my region.
several (including CNNs new weather article today call for my region to be significantly warmer and drier than average.
I'm convinced nobody knows shit about fuck and weather predictors are.no better than tarot card scammers.

ha! i saw warmer and wetter than “normal” for your neck of the woods
i think particularly in these current times that you’re right…nobody knows
“normal” seems to be heading more and more towards chaos

"...I'm convinced nobody knows shit about fuck and weather predictors are.no better than tarot card scammers..."
I feel the same way. In fact, on multiple occasions I told my wife how glad I was that there are weather people around, so there would always be people who are wrong more often than physicians.
That being said:
A lawyer I know well, who's very savvy, one of those really bright people who sees things from a broad, business-oriented perspective, always thinking ahead, (It's hard not to think "this guy is playing chess and we're all playing checkers" sometimes.), is part of a business in KC where they use their weather predictions as a product, a hedge, i.e., an insurance policy for businesses whose success is dependent on the weather. His co. writes a policy based on their weather prediction and the business can go ahead and risk the capital to, e.g., plant a crop, etc., and the business is partially hedged against the potential loss if the weather goes bad.
When he got involved ~ 12 years I wondered what he would do next since this would never work out, but he's doing very well.
