Neal being hurt just hurt this team in 2nd half.

One deep pummeling of key players a thing. Felt like KU was the better team and actually injured players made a difference.

Credit to TCU for figuring out that KU could not stop the QB draw, like at all...why they stopped running it at the beginning of the 4th is beyond me.

KU hasn't stopped the QB draw for years. They were slow to realize Duggan was fully and I mean fully healed. No way a heavy dude runs on broken bones.

Now, just wait until they have a winter program and spring practices.

Is this as encouraging of a 2-win season as we could have hoped for? I feel like most of us here would have predicted 2 wins (but wouldn't have thought Texas would be one of them) and that's ok. But Leipold and company have done some great work, right? They didn't even get these guys on the field until August and now here it is November and they seem to have at least reached they "hey at least we're competitive again" milestone. In 4 months. That makes me pretty excited for next season.

I think I said 2-10 to start with potential for 3-9. It's been better than I expected.

Going from hanging with Coastal Carolina for a half to having OU on the ropes and TCU needing a last-second FG to win, the growth seems obvious in such a short span of time. I'll admit I don't feel good about our chances against West Virginia this weekend. Our run defense is still pretty bad and they have a stud RB. But whatever happens Saturday night shouldn't take away from the progress they've made.

So glad to see the team in it until the end. KU had far more important injuries than TCU too, despite the Pregame hype. Watching the replays, Duggan was at 100-percent, so whether or not the staff will admit it, KU got played on the injury report. I doubt the scouting report had them spying on a lame large QB. But the dude was turning the corner as fast as any QB in the league. Rushed 12 times too. Fun that it mattered.

Shutting down the run should be the priority and focus for the last game. If they get beat by passing, it should be because the blitz didn't get there enough on third down. Should be able to score on them.

Due to my daughters birthday I was only able to watch parts of the game but when I was watching the offense looked mostly good and the defense was mostly bad. At this point the offense can compete at a Big 12 level. The defense on the other hand needs more depth and explosive athletes at the LB position. Much like the Texas game they simply got wore down and couldn't stop the run.

I hate to single out Hawks but on one possession I was watching Potter was either on a blitz or had the TCU QB right in the hole for a sack or a no gain and he dropped his head and just threw his shoulder. Obviously the TCU QB just blew right past him. Potter, is just not very good.

KU hitting JUCO LBs hard. For that reason. Got one committed. 4 years to play 3 kind of deal, so should be around a while.

Mike Smith, from Gulf Coast in Mississippi. Had 10 schollie offers but KU was the only P5 offer he held. Plans on enrolling in Jan. I'll take it. Any depth we can take.

These are the kind of JUCO players I think Leipold will use to round out the 2022 class. Plus hitting the transfer portal. The 2022 class will small, which is fine, since this team has I believe 60+ freshmen and sophomores, then they hit the high schools hard again in 2023 which it seems like they are doing.

What about Cornell Wheeler, the kid that transferred from Michigan? Is he redshirting this year, any chance he turns out to be the athletic LB we are looking for?

He was mainly getting snaps in blow out situations. Seems like the coaching staff doesn't trust him yet. What is evident is that this off season there will be a ton of competition for minutes in the LB room and by all account Wheeler will be a part of that group.

I saw that Nick Chanel's dad went off on Twitter about his sons lack of playing time and how Borland is using Potter to much. While I disagree with the method I don't hate the message. Potter, is awful.

I like how holidays doesn't like singling players out, but yet . . .

Potter has been bad, though, but not sure he's a worse option than Nick Chanel.

Before we crown Leipold a turnaround (and before we give him an extension), this progress was always the easiest part for this staff--getting the guys on the team to play.

Now lets recruit and develop--that task is going to be much, much harder. There will (and should) be very few teams that are busier than we are every single transfer portal.

Sorry. Guilty. Not a fan of Potter at all. Something about him rubs me the wrong way.

He was slow but at least he hit people and got them to the ground. I mean really that whole LB room isn't that good and I hope this coaching staff gently tells a few of those guys PT may not be available next year and that it may be best to 'move on' to some place else.
