And unicorns will bring Santa Claus and Tooth Fairy to testify! “McConnell” and “justice” should never be used in the same sentence. He who famously said that his primary responsibility is to make sure that Obama didn’t succeed, country be damned, is waiting for orders from Putin as to what to do!

Thanks, republicans, for enabling this, likely the most corrupt administration in our nation's history.

Now do Schiff and the Nunes Report, which was factual, which Schiff knew was factual, and about which he still lied.

Whom do we thank for that?

I agree, Clinton should have never lied about that blowjob.

Like I said, they were the only ones who would answer the phone when Trump's # popped up on the caller ID.

The nunes report contained facts, it was hardly "factual".

DCHawk1 wrote: Mon Jan 20, 2020 6:50 pm If it occurs again that a president of one party is impeached by a House of the other party, which rushes through an impeachment proceeding, refusing to wait until privilege issues can be adjudicated or negotiated, largely because of electoral concerns, and then sends it to the Senate of the president's party for trial, then yes, perhaps this will be seen as a precedent.
...so, you really think that, if/when Trump gets away with this and just does a more intense version of this same thing [1] in a few months, the exact fact pattern of how the inquiry/articles arose will matter? I do not. I think it will be established Constitutional precedent that abuse of power is not impeachable conduct [2], full stop.

[1] Because, of course, this is what he does. He was barely clear of the heat from the Russia investigation when he started in on this nonsense. And it would be foolish to believe that Zelensky is the only guy this wannabe strongman has tried to strongarm.

[2] For a Republican, anyway.

Yes. I think the exact pattern of how the articles arose will matter.

But then, that's pretty much the precedent that has existed since Washington refused to run for a third term.

No party will impeach one of its own. Obstruction of Justice is a de facto partisan charge.

They can go back to the well and call Parnas...and Bolton, and anyone else they want to. And if they have the dirt, they destroy not just Trump but the enablers as well.
Call them in what proceeding?
Whatever the fuck they want.

The House is a freaking dictatorship, unlike the Senate, where rules generally apply. They can investigate whatever they want, whenever they want, for whatever reason they want.

Think Benghazi.
Benghazi was a study in idiocy. I dont think we need to root for more terrible garbage such as that.

Is anyone else tired of this shit? Block all documents and witnesses so you can complain about the lack of evidence.

Stop insulting Americans and at least pretend to give a damn about the country over your party.

I don't think that comparing this to Clinton in that sense is a valid approach. What he did set a precedent that perjury is not necessarily punishable - it means that even if Trump, Mulvaney, Rudy, etc. are called as witnesses, they can just lie.

That's actually the danger though - that allowing Trump to get away with this sets a horrible precedent.

It's the two-horse Merry-Go-Round: (1) you can't talk to anyone who would have first-hand evidence; (2) you have no first-hand evidence, so you must acquit!
