Bills win = Bills get the 2 seed
Bills lose, Jaguars lose @TEN, Steelers lose @BAL = Bills get the 6 seed

So it looks like I am cheering for Miami and at least one of Jacksonville or Pittsburgh to win. First shoe to drop is Pittsburgh at Baltimore this Saturday.

Buffalo as a 7 would be marvelous as mentioned before—if they won v the 2, which I guess would be Miami, they’d play Balty and possibly knock them out.

Then you’d hope the Chiefs won on their side v the six—Indy or Houston—to face Cleveland or Jacksonville.

And if that all happened the Chiefs would host Buffalo for the AFC title.

Yeah, it's scary that the most optimal path we can hope for is a path where we have to beat a team that is coming off beating the #1 and #2 seeds in the conference and has already won in Arrowhead this season but I'd rather face that than go to Baltimore.

Yes, I still think we can beat Buffalo ( we should have had the refs not called back one of the most exciting plays in Chiefs history ) but would prefer to avoid them for as long as we can.

Buffalo and Balty scare me more than the rest of the AFC.

Also Mahomes is out this weekend.

Glad have has a couple weeks to recover from his New Year's Eve. ;)

Is Kelce playing? I think he wants to continue his 1000 yard streak.

He will probably be targeted on every down of the first drive and then sit as soon as he gets his yardage.

Works for me. Just don't get him hurt.

16 yards.
Chargers will triple team him if he’s out there.

One sided conversation......

If he plays, will be interesting to see if the Chargers care - and let him get it on the first possession, make him work hard for it, or God forbid decide to pull a 09-12 Saints.

Playing him to get 16yds is asking for the football gods to throw bad Karma to KC for stat chasing.

Especially a 1,000yd streak that means significantly less now that they play more games per season than they used to.

Either play the starters to win and gain momentum, or sit the starters.

This is not the time for indivudal player stat chasing. I would have figured there a bigger goals to worry about.

I don't have a big problem with it, unless there's a nagging injury that could really use a week off. In the big picture, this streak is the sort of thing that puts him over the top of Gonzalez, Gronk, etc. And the marginal injury risk is negligible.

I don't have a problem with it at all. Frankly, I'd rather guys play some than none.

Maybe it did, but now that they play more games in the regular season than those 2 did I think it greatly reduces the importance of whatever streak.

An extra 16yds doesn't make this regular season any more spectacular for him. It's just a pretty looking round number.

You chase it and he gets hurt it ruins the team's chances at success. I am not a big fan of indivudal stat chasing when the team goals are much bigger.

If KC was 4-12 and the season was over, sure let the guy chase his stats. In a year where KC has super bowl ambitions and almost zero margin for error? No thanks.

I would ALSO not have a problem with him sitting. But I think he's earned the right to make the call for himself.

Right.
If he wants to get that stat, and i'm coach Reid, i'm telling him he has one quarter to do so and i'm specifically scheming plays to get him the ball on most of the plays.

I hope they get it done on Drive One and get him out and to the bench to relax and cheer.

Apples and oranges, but I heard a fun anecdote on the radio this morning, with Gehrig Dieter and Anthony Sherman talking about Pat's 2017 start against the Donkeys (in a game that was a lot like this one).

I guess Kareem Hunt was a few yards short of the NFL rushing crown, and so we played him even though the stakes were zero. Aqib made a business decision VERY early in the game...because he knew that Hunt would be off the field as soon as he got the number (and he didn't want to have to mess with Hunt all day).

Playoff scenarios for who the Chiefs would play on wild card weekend:

-Bills win KC plays the Dolphins
-Dolphins, Titans & Ravens win KC plays the Bills
-Dolphins, Jags & Texans win KC plays the Texans
-Dolphins, Jags & Colts win KC plays the Colts
-Dolphins, Titans & Steelers win KC plays the Steelers

Excellent point. Give Kelce his yards immediately and you get to face his backup the rest of the game instead of having to keep covering Kelce.
