Curious, why do you frown upon stock buybacks and dividends for publicly traded companies? (Not specific to Abbot Labs)

You realize shareholders aren't forced to sell their stock right?

Stock buybacks don't increase profits. They just reduce the # of shares in circulation. Which is typically a good thing if you are someone who owns the stock. Nobody is forced to sell their shares.

They actually are a way to return cash to shareholders in many cases. Shareholders can be/are people like you and I. I own shares of countless publicly traded companies. Even owned shares of Abbot Labs until maybe 6ish months ago.

You should read up on stock buy backs. An informative article is below, although I am sure you won't read it since you seem to be an expert already.

Not to sound snarky, but it's almost like you don't understand why companies go public in the first place or what stock buy backs are or why they typically occur.

I don't recall asking for info about buybacks, but thanks anyway.

The segment of white people afraid of becoming a minority is increasingly small. Such a small segment of our population. I have never heard a single white person I know say anything even remotely close to that. I mostly hear about that topic from white libs on twitter.

You should do some research instead of basing it off of your own personal experience where you live and your twitter feed.

And White Americans will become a minority in this country sooner rather than later. It's not some myth; it is a statistical fact based on census projections.

My "take" on it is based on the Census. I have no fear of it because it is irrelevant to my everyday life other than that the people around me will likely become more diverse over time. I look forward to that as more diversity brings more unique points of view, which helps evolves our communities.

It's a great time to invest right now. But yeah, I am glad I am not trying to retire in the next year or two.

Did I say white people WOULDN'T become a minority? No, I didn't.

I said the segment of white people that think that's some significant negative that they are extremely worried about is small.
