I don't think Dajuan is a good shooter but I don't really care what the shot looks like as long as it goes in -- at this point you aren't changing his technique.
He is what he is.
Can hit the 3 if given some space, won't create that space/shot for himself, he needs the ball to come to him or a nice screen.
I don't see teams are sagging off of him as they did early in his career which makes me think he's at least a threat from the perimeter.
He's not a bad shooter.
Marcus Garrett was a bad shooter.

that's a pretty good assessment.
Still waiting on that first triple of the season to fall for him.
as far as caring what the shot looks like, that's chicken/egg, cuz you can often look at a shooter's shot and tell whether it's likely to go in.
I mean shit, Dajuan prob holds the record for airballs shot by a 3rd-4th-5th year upperclassman player - both in terms of jumpers, and also like layups that end up clanking off the bottom of the backboard.

38% from 3 is pretty good.
But, I understand your point and why you reach that conclusion.
Although, Storr isn't exactly a "good" shooter either. Which this all began by Ousdahl, once again, thinking DH needs to be on the bench so Zeke can shoot. When that's simply not the case. Zeke can score, initiate offense, play "lead guard" with DH on the floor.
Week after week, he comes up with some stupid hypothetical about why DH needs to be benched. Completely ignoring that Zeke has done all the things he's suggesting, already this year, while DH has played alongside him. The same way DH played alongside Remy in the national title game when the legend of Remy was born. Even though Remy only played 21min, and the majority were alongside DH. Not in replacement of DH.
Our best lineups include DH. No matter how much Ousdahl dislikes him. Storr is lost, he fouled out in 12min against MSU. He's only played more than 16min in 1 of 3 games.
Storr Griffen Coit and eventually maybe Shak Moore are important pieces to our team. But none of them are going to replace DH. Those 3 or 4 will play night to night based on who is playing the best and practicing the best.

he does a decent job of creating 3s for himself in the pick ‘n roll, getting his defender trapped below the screener, but it’s not like we need him to do those sorts of things on a regular basis

ohh here we go!
I guess if we consider all the factors there are to consider whether a shooter is Good, yea, I guess Dajuan is a better shooter than Garrett. But I also think it's not exactly a huge gap.
And that's mostly just 3pt shooting/jumpers. I think Garrett was a better overall scorer, whose production statistically increased every year until he was averaging double digits, rather than his scoring production statistically decreasing. But that's not exactly a huge gap either.
With that said, I also hold out hope that Dajuan could still be a double digit dood for us this year too...and/or this team is loaded enough we won't need Dajuan to score that much anyway.
But, considering he IS gonna play a ton of minutes, and he is and should be due for that final-year-in-the-program bump, and he's a fucking 6th year player anyway, I don't think averaging double digits is unreasonable to ask for.

Correct. It's a 4th 5th or 6th type option for our offense. Why on earth would we want DH forcing up 3s when we've got a 7'2 post scorer as option #1 and Zeke as option #2.
It's like searching for an issue that doesn't exist. Who knew a true PG averaging 9pts and 5ast was such a problem for our offense. Self sure doesn't seem to get it.

You do realize DH is averaging a career high 9pts per game? It's done the opposite of decrease.
And he's 1pt away from this double digit threshold that you find so important.

Deal with it. You clearly enjoy the attention.

yea, very small sample size so far this year tho. But yea I think he might get double digits for the season. He'll eventually hit some 3s for us too.

Harris' points per 40 minutes is the highest of his career this season. He is just playing almost 8 mpg less this year so far. So you're wrong about his scoring production statistically decreasing and wrong that he's gonna play a ton of minutes.
Harris is doing fine this year, solid but unspectacular. I don't care if he never shoots another 3 in his life.

Errrr...I very much do.
He still has to be able to shoot the 3 in moments.
He has the ball too much not to.

With Zeke, Griffen, Coit, and Storr, scoring from DH is not in the top 10 most important things to our team success this season.
And i still expect him to average 9-11pts for the year.

Dajuan, so far, has the highest FG% of the guards on our team ( who have played more than 2 minutes ).
He has attempted the 2nd most FT's and has hit all of them.

Haha. True.
Brady. Tyrel. It's always someone.
I typically just default to the fact Self knows what he's doing. He sees them each day in practice. He understands gameplan/scouting report.
This year's interesting player depth chart choice has been Coit starting. Although that may be a thing of the past.

I think Coit started cuz Self so frequently tinkers with lineups for the first few games, especially when there's so many newcomers.
Self prob knows who he wants starting long-term, but these games are the carrot on the stick to motivate them to take that step.

yea, I very much like Dajuan, and/or any guard, getting to the line and cashing in.
